Arrived at Down to Earth with Nico the owner, explaining how down to earth was established and what's it's mission and vision is. Down to earth prides itself with serving Organic, natural food from their Farm in Bukidnon to your table. They noted how their beef came from grass fed cows and black pigs without commercial feeds , hormones or antibiotics. They emphasized how their crops aren't hybrid and came from heirloom seeds.
Down to Earth is a farm to table restaurant and organic market offering ingredients, seeds, natural condiments, Nico emphasize how traditional and pinoy tasting their burgers were in the old times. It's a good way to support local and be health conscious at the same time. Their produce comes from their farm in bukidnon and is literally being flown here to Manila to sell. Their meat is chilled not frozen preserving the flavor of the meat, and the meat is being professionally butchered, taking an hour, to guarantee freshness and choice cuts. They even sell during the weekends in Salcedo Market.
They served us Raw Leafy Kale Chips,Grass-Fed Beef Jerky(P200), Focacia with Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes and Rosemary, Garden salad(P230), their varying slowburgers which were Original Slowburger(P275), Wild West SlowBurger(P360), Impossible Slowburger(P285), Bleu SlowBurger(P405), Lamb SlowBurger(P445), Whole Hog Slowburger(P485). For drinks we had the Purple Corn Kombutcha(P235), Dalwangan Catimor Arabica Coffee (P90)
The Original Slow burger comes with egg, lettuce, tomato, arugula in a potato brioche bun. It was your typical construction of a burger having their grass fed beef patty slowly cooked. It was juicy(despite the lack of fat), flavorful, Similar experience was the Wild West Slowburger, typically your cheeseburger but having grass fed cheddar cheese involved takes it to a whole new level, it was a flavor of both familiarity and uniqueness at the same time. Familiar in a sense, it's a cheeseburger but never a cheeseburger this good.
The Impossible Slowburger was their take on a somewhat falafel burger but having the texture, taste and consistency of a real beefy patty. The patty is mixed with arugula, chikpeas together with pickled cucumber, heirloom tomatoes, onions and baba ghanoush tzatziki(added the meat flavor).
The Bleu Slowburger is one of my favorites, the bleu cheese embedded inside their patty for an even distribution of flavor. It reminds me of a chocolate chip cookie with white chocolates but it's their delicious slow cooked patty together with bleu cheese. A recommended order to impress your friends.
The Lamb slow burger was another favorite for me. The tenderness and unique flavor of the lamb was evident in the burger mixed with grass fed feta cheese, curry mayonnaise and red onions, its truly a delicious savory burger. The flavor was clean and delicious and non greasy. Another recommended order
The Whole Hog Slowburger their own rendition of a bbq pulled pork patty burger with smoked pig cheeks. The pork came from a black heritage hog, making it more delicious than regular hogs cos their meat are more leaner and flavorful.
The Kombutcha drink was another good experience. I always wanted to taste kombutcha. It's like a softdrink that smells like wine but the taste is calm and soothing on the throat with a hint of purple corn.
Their Grass-fed dairy Ice cream was another favorite, it would give carmen's best a run for their money. Creamy, flavorful and organic flavors of french vanilla, coffee and chocolate. It was so good, you wont get tired of the flavors
Recommended orders: Beef Jerky, Ice cream, Bleu Slowburger, Lamb Slowburger, Impossible Burger, and the Whole Hog Slowburger
