First time to try khao khai in Poblacion and it was a good decision 👌

We tried their best selling street style fried chicken - Gai Tod which comes with your choice of sticky rice or jasmine rice. (We chose sticky rice) It also comes with 2 kinds of sauce: sweet and sour & something like vinegar. The chicken was crispy but juicy.

We also tried the Phat Mama another best seller from their menu. It was fried noodles with special sauce, veggies, pork and chili topped with sunny side up egg. This was surprisingly so good!

Thai iced tea was okay. (im not really a fan of thai tea so..)

Overall its something we would crave for. Would definitely come back to try other food!

Place was simple we felt like we were really in Thailand 😂 Sawadee ka 🙏

Missed the cuisine of Northern Thailand so we went on a poblacion food crawl and tried out Khao Khai. Sadly they didn't have the signature dish of Chiang Mai - Khaoi soi. So we ended up trying their chicken instead and it did not disappoint! It was nice that we were also able to suggest to the owner to possibly include Khao Soi into the menu.

Chasing Ira recommends! 👌🏼
I had the One Piece Thai Fried Chicken and it was so good!

🍴Serving is really nakakabusog.

🍴Sauces compliment the chicken really well - sweet and spicy.

I also had Iced Thai Tea which is okay lang. Prices are affordable.

💯 Service is excellent. The staff are very friendly! Will definitely go back. Zomato Gold is also available here!

We really sought out this place since it's been all over my timeline and instagram. It's just near The Social at Ebro so it's hard to miss. The place is just small and cozy. The posters are pretty interesting. We ordered the thai chicken, the thai iced tea and the egg salad.

The chicken was the bomb!!! It was super crispy and juicy. I love the savory sweet dip that it comes with too. I would totally recommend this one

Egg salad was also good!! 🤗🤗🤗

The thai iced tea was also super duper good. I love how it's not too sweet. It's not watered down or anything. It's a pretty good drink if you're suddenly craving something akin to milk tea around the area.

Overall it was really good. The price was also reasonable. I would definitely come back here. 🤗🤗

We went to Khao Khai on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was full, but we the kuya gave us a table outside so we got seated immediately. For 3 people, we ordered 2 plates of 2pc fried chicken, papaya salad, and house fries.

Fried Chicken : 4.5/5 very tender & crispy! I usually don’t like breast parts because they tend to be dry, but this one wasn’t! I was surprised it was adequately juicy despite its size, and the skin/breading was a welcome change from the usual McDo/Jollibee/KFC flavour!

Papaya Salad : 5/5 sweet, tangy and with sudden bursts of spicy! They mix in little slices of chilli that make your eyes water when you chance in on one!

House Fries : 3/5 it’s just regular fries with seasoning powder. It reminded us of Ersao/Pao Pao powder hehe.

BONUS:
Thai Iced Tea : 4/5 not overly sweet nor bitter! Perfect mix of the tea and condensed milk. We wished it was bigger, though. A bit pricey at around 80 pesos for a 400ml sized glass.

For one of my Christmas gatherings, Khao Khai, a Thai Chicken place was the source of party trays. They serve you spiced up, tasty Drunken Spaghetti with a well-seasoned bundle of deep-fried, Chicken. This pairing is priced reasonably at Php 1,315 only.

Since we had other viands for our recent potluck, I got the Yaowaraj Fried Rice too. Watch out for the live red chili when you bite on this filling tray!

I love the chicken meal mygaaaaaahd. Next time I would try it again but with the sticky rice this time. It was our first time here. Been craving kasi for something more asian and different after visiting SG and KL so we went here since ito pinakamalapit lakarin from office. I love that they have Zomato gold pa so double the fun. Really like it here. Only thing I didn't like is the tables and chairs but that's okay.

I love the photogenic pink interiors, mismatched tables and chairs, and of course the food!! ❤️ Try the gai tod (fried chicken) with sticky rice, drunken spaghetti, or the crispy tofu! Complete your meal with super spicy som tam 🌶 Don’t forget to try their Thai iced tea (you can also have it spiked!) Definitely worth the visit! 🌶😋

an explosion of flavors. I have to recommend their sauce. I felt like i was being divirginize by an array of flavors, chicken had a different coating, flour mix with eggs and a dash of milk i think. The sticky rice tasted like my grandmothers suman which made me nostalgic. Mother of virginz approves

Khao Khai takes you to the busy streets and night market of Bankok. However, you won’t find the usual Thai food staples such as pad thai or tom yum. Rather, their menu consists of Thai street fried food.

We tried their Gai Tod (fried chicken) with two kinds of dipping sauces. You can have an option of having this dish either with jasmine rice or sticky rice. Both are perfect 👌 but if you want to add a bit of texture, try it with their sticky rice. We paired our Gai Tod with the fried egg salad which balances Gai Tod’s salty taste with its combination of sour, sweet, and a bit of spicy taste.

Nice authentic street Thai ambiance, good service and great food. 👍

It was my first time to try Thai Fried Chicken and it was a great experience. The crunchiness was on point and the sauce made it taste even better. We couldn’t take the heat of the Papaya Salad though but it was fine. The french fries though were in super small pieces (like the last batch of the bag). I hope they dont make it look like that next time. Overall, I would recommend you guys to try this place out for another kind of fried chicken experience.

I ordered drunken spaghetti and Somtum (papaya salad) by Grab food. As the order arrived, i smelled something. Drunken spaghetti is great but papaya salad smells like socks! It smells so musty and i have to throw away.

Sorry no pics, too busy enjoying the awesome thai 🍗! 😅 the Gai Tods plus sticky rice is splendid! Their sauces really enhance the flavor of the food. The victory wings is super sulet and sarap for the price! Will return soon!

Really appreciate that they’re bringing more Thai dishes to our attention, and that the entire dining experience makes you feel like you’ve teleported. Enjoyed the chicken skin, dry pork curry, and all their dipping sauces. Their main attraction was just okay, but I don’t think it’s worth the price tag for what it is. Will try their grilled chicken and moo grob next!

A very distinct place in the Poblacion area, almost a hole in the wall kind of joint that really transports you when you walk in and when you get a taste of the food. Unfamiliar names in the menu but properly described so you don't play a guessing game for your palate later on. Plus servers are really helpful and nice, very candid and friendly so there's no need to feign ignorance and just ask them which dishes to try and their suggestions never disappoint. Quirky interiors with colored mismatched chairs, intentionally tacky printed table covers, and wall decor you know exists only inside truly local Thai versions of our karinderya. Yet with everything so mindfully put together, it's that kind of Asian campy look that's confidently self aware.

As for the food, try it all. There's nothing you can't love. But all the chicken dishes and their fries are a staple for every visit. And always make sure your Thai Iced Tea is spiked. 👌

Khao Khai has a winning concept of thai food - just the way it's served in Bangkok streets.

On our visit there, we had Drunken Spaghetti, Victory Wings and Crispy Garlic Tofu accomp6by chilled bottles of Chang beer. The food absolutely complements the beer! Drunken Spaghetti is a Thai take on pasta. With garlic, chillies, basil and anchovies. The dish was spicy. Has an excellent fragrance and taste. Victory Wings is a winner. Crisp chicken wings marinated in fish sauce and herbs. Tofu was served with rice and we found it dry.

On another day I ordered Gai Yang (northern Thailand style grilled chicken) and Gai Tod (Bangkok street style fried chicken). Both came with jasmine rice and excellent dips. We liked the fried chicken better, although both dishes were good.

The best authentic Thai Fried Chicken place there is. They really did a great job replicating the street fried chicken in Bangkok (crispy and well cooked to the bone) together with the sauce Plus the papaya salad which was a good pair with the chicken. Plus the ambiance felt like eating in the streets of Bangkok with an open air concept, linoleum covered tables, monoblock chairs and casual kitchen staff talk. Will keep coming back here!

Gai Tod - their fried chicken was crispy and cooked throughout. They served it with two kinds of dipping sauces, and the darker one pairs perfectly with the chicken. It comes with sticky jasmine rice, which has an unusually superb texture. It is sticky yet not mashed. And for an affordable price, I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Fries - it was your ordinary french fries with a side of ketchup for dipping.

Thai Milk Tea spiced with rhum - make sure to mix it as the alcohol tends to settle at the bottom of the glass. It taste exactly as how milk tea should be -- creamy and a little bit sweet, but also floral.

Really liked our late dinner date here at Pob(It’s been a while). Been wanting to check this place out & it’s a thumbs up for me.My favorite is the Gai Tod (Fried Chicken).Even the Nam Jin Jiew(dipping sauce) is so good and a nice balance of sweet, salty, spicy & umami which is the Thais concept of balanced flavors. Too bad they ran out of sticky rice(Khao niew). It would’ve been perfect.

We were walking around Poblacion when me and my friend stumbled upon Khao Khai. It looks like your normal carinderia but adorned with Thai decals.

We ordered Dry Curry and Moo Hung. Both really taste good. However, for the amount of meat, I find the price a bit steep.

What I like about the place is that it’s not intimidating and feels like I’m eating in Thailand.

They dont serve the usual pad thai or tom yum soup thats very famous in thai restos but they offer food from northern thailand. The chicken is good and flavorful and perfectly cooked. The pork belly was also tasty and best eaten with white rice. Their thai milk tea is one of the best that I tried.

The place is really nice. Somehow, as if you were really eating on the streets of Bangkok. The Gai Tod was great it was cooked perfectly, as well as the Drunken Spaghetti. However the serving of the Spaghetti was a bit disappointing. It was lesser than I thought. You'd be able to finish it within a few bites. But overall place and food is great. Cheap beer too! It was worth the try!

From the owners of my fave Crying Tiger, comes Khao Khai— a thai hole in the wall that focuses on CRISPY thai fried chicken and other thai dishes we dont usually get around the metro. The ambience is quaint, very homey, unlike that of Crying Tiger. We were greeted warmly and the servers were very prompt and accommodating. The food took a while but that was excusable given it was a friday night and it was 90% packed. The fried chicken was really good with the black sauce and the drunken spaghetti (sweet and spicy with lots of garlic and basil— YUM!) would def be something I would order post-drinking. Their drinks are so cheap even without their happy hour promo!
