Great atmosphere. Sleek interiors. Accommodating staff. A bit pricey. Order the unagi and the niku soba.
Chef Kazunori San was there supervising the crew for a wonderful Christmas dinner, you have to eat there to experience the authentic Japanese food using first class ingredients. Their chirashi is freshest. We had dinner and desert and their green tea tiramisu is great, plus their cappuccino using Elle vire milk was heavenly! Found also their advertisement in Japanese Primer magazine and indeed it is highly rated in most food surveys. Must try this hidden gem in a Mazda showroom in Chino Roces !
Good dependable japanese food
Lovely! The foie gras had a little sweet hint to it that could’ve been more mellow but still enjoyed it. 5 star.
Oh, Kazunori - the first meal I’ve had in a while where I actually felt grateful to be alive.
It’s unassuming, in a place I don’t normally frequent, but you must expect great things when it’s from the same guys as Mendokoro Ramenba and Ramen Yushoken. And how truly great - my first bite of their chawanmushi is akin to a revelation. I don’t think I’ve ever fully tasted the goodness of egg until that day. After much debate, contemplation over their lean menu, I tried the karai zaru soba, mostly because its Mendokoro counterpart is among my holy grail of noodle dishes. Absolutely no regrets - the refreshing soba pairs stunningly with the spicy dipping sauce. Every bite, even more so when there’s a bit of the beef in it, transports you into a world far, far away from the clunky streets of Magallanes. You can add a bit of chili or temper it with some of the dashi served on the side - but don’t. It is perfect the way it is.
Instead, have your chili complement the umami creaminess of their crab croquettes. It makes for the kind of bite that makes you close your eyes.. surprisingly the star of the meal for me. Then wash it down with their matcha, which, similar to the experience of the chawanmushi, makes you question that you’ve known the true essence of green tea until that day.
I don’t want to return anytime soon to Kazunori, if only to preserve that celestial experience. I’ll save it for the days where I need to find greatness, when you desperately need to be thankful again. It’s that good.
Had lunch with my wife at Kazunori.
First impressions: the good- great bright and open spaces. Good selection of different seating spaces. The bad- table settings were a little stained and the overall modern design of the space was not coherent.
More importantly, the food: we liked very much the soba noodles, the quality of the otoro, Buta kushi miso and the unagi. We thought, however, that the tempura batter was too thick.
The staff was of average efficiency and customer-orientation.
Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would rank this as one of the top Japanese restaurants in Manila and worth coming back to.
I’m very happy with this Japanese restaurant. They quality of their ingredients is top notch, and they have interesting items on their menu. My must order: buta kushi miso. The inari sushi is simple but surprisingly good too.
Few Japanese restaurants in Manila wow me nowadays, but Kazunori absolutely nailed it for me. Classic, authentic taste, and they offer dishes rarely offered in Manila that I've sorely missed while I lived in Japan (e.g. mentaiko pasta). A little pricy, but don't let the simple interiors disappoint you as they have a more upscale dining area further back into the restaurant. This is hands-down one of the best Japanese restaurants in Metro Manila for me :)
Very good, fancy place, staff was attentive...a little too attentive hahaha jk, the price is reasonable. Everything I ordered was good, the cotton maki was a bit rough though, but that aside, everything was tasted good hahaha.
It’s been a while since I’ve eaten at a Japanese restaurant but the quality of the fish and seafood here is so much better than what I remember from others. I had the Kaisen Chirashi which was a little expensive but so worth it.
A fancy japanese restaurant beside Mazda showroom in Magallanes serves authentic japanese cuisine from rice bowls, meal sets, sushi rolls and more.
We had our annual year end lunch here with my friends. We can hardly see the signage outside. We had delightful dishes with big servings like salmon and ebi tempura rolls. Good for sharing. The ebi tempura was good. I recommend the chicken teriyaki set. They were serious when they said meal set. The meal included chahan, potato salad, chicken soup and more. The gyoza was also a must try.
A good place but a little pricey.
They offer great Japanese food, and their serving size is really generous. The staff are really friendly, and even allowed me to change my pasta preference. ❤
Authentic Japanese restaurant in a car (Mazda) showroom. The sushi chef is your usual unsmiling Japanese who magically whips up fresh tasting masterpieces.
Have you watched those documentaries about Japanese restaurants in US, Europe, and other first world countries that brags about the ingredients they use for cooking especially the seafoods and other meats being brought all the way from Japan? Kazunori, a Japanese eatery here in the Philippines may not be a part of one of those exclusive documentaries but may I just tell you, which was also told to me by one of their reliable and trustworthy staff, that their fresh seafoods are shipped all the way from The Land of The Rising Sun. Yes, you read that right. FRESHLY DELICIOUS. Need I say more.
Ordered the Salmondon, Chicken Teriyaki, Ebi Tempura, a piece of Unagi sushi, & of course the star of the menu, the Unatamadon. Surprised when we removed the cover of our Gyudons as they all looked pleasing & gawked in awe when we found more meats (salmon from Salmondon, chicken from Chicken Teriyaki, and fatty eel meat from Unatamadon) over rice underneath the thick sheets of runny omelette ! All of those did not disappoint as everything tastes sensational! Moreover, the egg custards that comes with almost every meal is just comforting not only to the palate but also to the feeling. Every bite hits the right spot. Never experienced an egg cooked in such way. Served first as an appetizer.
Scoring this restaurant with a 5/5 because every experience we had from visiting the place was so perfect. The classy, Japanese-y ambience, the outstandingly welcoming staff including their Japanese chefs who prepares and cooks what you ordered in front of you when you are seated at the bar area, and most importantly the food. Costly but reasonable for the price. VERY. REASONABLE. Will never have second thoughts about visiting the place again and again. I love me some Kazunori!
PS: comfort room is so clean I can live there.
This place has the best salmon sashimi. Food is great and you can say that it’s one of the most authentic japanese restos in the metro. A bit on the expensive side but worth it. Ambiance is great and I would’ve given this place 5 stars if not for the booster seat. I wish they had one with safety belts. It worked fine for my 2 year old but I was kinda worried he might fall off.
If you love Mendokoro and Yushoken, then you know how good the food will be at Kazunori. We looked at the menu, and they even serve "Yushoken Gyoza" 😂. Everything we ordered was so rich and full of flavors. My boyfriend ordered sushi roll and uni pasta while I ordered katsu curry which came with the chawan mushi. Everytime my boyfriend takes a bite of the sashimi, his face says it all. He said that the otoro melted in his mouth. Meanwhile, I loved my katsu curry! The chawan mushi was so flavorful! And my, I tried the uni pasta!! It was sooo good that we ordered a second one!! Good job guys!!
Yeah, it's not cheap, but it's so worth it. You really get what you pay for. And the service was excellent!! This place is perfect for special occasions like anniversaries etc. also best place to take your clients or bosses who are expats. They will definitely appreciate it.
We passed by several times as it was highly recommended by family and friends living near by, but was always full. Decided to take a chance on a early Saturday evening, 6pm. But as expected, in an hour it was full.
Chawanmushi starter was authentic, chicken soup broth with Yuzu zest. Ordered Uni Pasta, Karai Niku Soba and Curry rice for our main.
Uni Pasta, perfectly creamy but personally would have preferred a bit more Uni. 😋Balance is important because too much will be too fishy, too little will just be glorified Alfredo sauce. But I’ll order this again. You can taste UNI was fresh.
Karai Niku Soba. Very good. Another dish that I would like to order again. Sauce is excellent. Hoping they can come up with a cold variety too.
Curry Rice, authentic Japanese Curry with an aftertaste that makes you want to eat more. Heat was just right to stimulate your appetite. Volume right for ladies but may not be enough for a hungry man. Extra Rice 🍚 please😋🙇🏻♀️
Gyoza served nice and hot, juicy inside, but unfortunately was a bit too porky 🐷. Maybe best to put ginger or kuchay to mask it a bit more.
Coffee jello, loved how they served with a shot of espresso. Bits of crunchy caramel chips inside was a pleasant surprise ❤️👍🏻
Americano was too diluted but espresso was excellent.
Too busy eating, forgot to take all the pictures, but ambiance included, worth coming back.
Oh not to forget, the Cold Sake, Kagetora from Niigata was also very good.
Thank you to the very efficient waitresses🙏🏻
Gochiso sama🙏🏻😋
Love this place. I try to visit when I’m in the country. Last time I went was for a small dinner of 3 on a weekend.
Ordered their off-menu Kazunori Taito’s Special, prized at 5000php, basically sushi topped with Otoro, Uni, and a lot of Tobiko. The serving was generous, so I would definitely recommend this dish. Ordered their Chocolate Parfait, and it really satisfied my palate. I also ordered other dishes, but I forgot their names.
Overall, I would say the experience was a 4.0, and is one of the best Japanese cuisines in Metro Manila.
We tried their gyoza, the salmon aburi, otoro sushi roll, ebi tempura, karai Niku soba, uni spaghetti, katsu curry, and Tori momo.
The gyoza was great, exactly likes the ones at Mendokoro, very juicy. The sashimi is in general very expensive, though you can still see them as value for money given they give you a lot of fish with each one. The salmon aburi had a nice big fat piece of salmon and it tasted quite nice. The otoro had two big pieces of fish on each. They're certainly pricey, but you're getting what you're paying for.
The uni spaghetti might be what I enjoyed most, though you don't really get a lot of uni flavor. Regardless it tasted quite nice and quite rich, and the pasta was perfectly al dente. The karai Niku soba was good, if a little too spicy, but you can dilute it and it's definitely something that works.
The tempura was quite big, so you're getting your value with its high price, but otherwise tastes like regular tempura. The katsu curry was just okay. The Tori momo was good, tastes about what you'd expect.
All in all the food was all excellent, and the prices are high but justified. This is most definitely in the same space as Mendokoro, an upper class Japanese place to go to regularly.
We really like the food and service. I was on portion control at that time and I really liked how tasty all the orders we got. Though, the restaurant sign is not very noticeable from the street so we missed and we had turn back. It is in the Mazda building and just beside its car showroom.
We wanted to try out this new Japanese place that we have been reading about.
We order the Kaisen Chirashi, Uni Spaghettini, Ebi Tempura and Yushoken Gyoza, Otoro Sushi.
All were equally good except that the:
1. Otoro sushi is not that worth it - it was nothing special
2. Ebi Tempura’s quality was inconsistent. We had three well fried crunchy on the outside moist on the inside pieces and two soft and soggy ones :(
PRO TIP: Double check bill. Instead of deducting what the senior citizen ate, they picked the lowest amount from the total bill and deduct only there.
I did not want to argue with the cashier since its a waste of time to educate them. But to the management, please educate your staff. :)
Everything is masterfully made and justify the price, considering that the most expensive food here can't be found in other restaurants (the otoro and chutoro will destroy your tastebuds and your wallet)
I would suggest diners to eat the sushi over the fusions or cooked food.
(Saito special is 4K worth of sushi consume at your money's risk)
Food in order of best to least best
+Saito special
+Salmon sashimi
+Salmon aburi nigiri
+Ebi fry tempura
+Katsudon
+Ebi tonkotsu pasta
+Gyoza
We loved the place, the food. Maybe a bit pricey on some items but they are worth it. Their sashimi are imported so it makes a lot of difference but some restaurants who serves local charges the same price as well.
The servers were all attentive too n orders came quick that we were done with our meal in an hour. I would defenitely go back n try other dishes in the future.
We love everything in this restaurant!
1. The service and ambiance was great. Waitress were attentive and knows what they're selling. The ambiance was also great especially sitting at the "sushi bar" were a Japanese chef makes all kinds of rolls and other food items in front of you fresh and clean.
2. The food is amazing. The sashimi is so fresh, the uni roll was just spot on, the gyoza was just juicy and packed with flavor, and lastly the hot soba is perfectly flavored and perfect for any kind of weather! Since we sat at the "sushi bar", we saw what they placing in most of the food and that it was really just all fresh and cleanly made. The other food we ordered was good as well.
3. The price is quite high but every penny you spent in this hidden gem in makati is worth it. Just make a call for reservation because we ate twice here and its always full. The restaurant has a small signage and it is in a Mazda Car display Building.
Possibly the best Japanese restaurant in Makati, if not Metro Manila, in terms of quality and authenticity of flavor. Not cheap at all but well worth the cost for the most part, and if you avoid the most outrageous items you should get by well under P1000/head.
Personally this is more of a 4 restaurant for reasons other than the food, but another unfair review here dropped its score to something mediocre so I'm handing out a 5 to even things out. Ah, the perils of crowdsourcing.
One holiday, Cole decided to schedule his meeting at Kazunori since he’s been dying to try this restaurant ever since it opened. We were fairly surprised to find the restaurant packed at 6 PM.
I don't really pass by this area but thanks to an Inglot sale across the street, I accidentally found this restaurant.
I went here on a Saturday at around 6:00pm. The tables were still empty but it seems like the restaurant is fully booked for that evening. An inquisitive investigator that I am, I just wanted to ask a few questions but never planned on dining in. The staff by the door greeted me with all smiles. The place was pristine and the interiors subtly displayed that they were modern Japanese. Intriguing.
So with my barrage of questions, the lady gave me a calling card and the menu. She was very accommodating and answered my queries patiently. I was becoming antsy as I felt the place had been fully reserved for that evening, but the staff reassured me not to worry and their peak hour is at 730pm. Well, that's it! I'm eating here. I eventually gave in.
They had traditional Japanese and fusion meals. The staff highly recommended the Uni Pasta. I was looking at the Curry or the Teriyaki pizza though but I wanted the bestseller.
The meal came with a serving of Chawan Mushi (or egg custard) as an appetizer. It was very good. I could have sworn I tasted hints of orange rind. The citrusy sweet taste lasted for a few seconds but it was very pleasant. It surprisingly complimented the appetizer.
For the main event, the Uni Pasta finally arrived. At the center of the black ceramic dish, was a beautiful cream based pasta with pieces of Uni (Sea Urchin) on top. It was a sight to behold. After a few pictures, I took my first bite. The Uni was good and fresh, the pasta... al dente, and to add texture, they sprinkled it with tempura flakes. It was heavenly. However, after my 5th bite, I got bored. There was still more but it was too rich and heavy. I got tired of the taste. I wanted a palate cleanser, something citrusy, or perhaps a sorbet but I was eventually able to finish it anyway. Thanks to the green tea, it helped wash the flavors away as I guzzled. The green tea seems premium by the way.
Overall, the experience was very good. The place had a superb ambiance, the service was excellent, the food is fine, but I think I have to try the other dishes. Though I was also really impressed with their presentation, especially when I saw that cylindrically shaped kakiage on the next table. Envious. 😬
I guess I'm not done here yet. Kazunori, expect me to come back for more. 😊
Knowing this was a new location, I’d thought that I would still give it a shot. Location wise, it was a little tough to find because of their tiny sign. Food was good, but not amazing. I’ll definitely recommend the sashimi and sushi more than any of the rice bowls or noodle dishes (except maybe the uni pasta). I’ll go again when to menu is finalized. :)
We just saw this place on our way home last night, to think that they've been here since June. A bit pricey but the quality of food is amazing! Great staff too! Maybe you can improve in your menu printout. 😀
The hubby got this recommendation from his colleagues - apparently this is a new restaurant owned by the same guy who owns Elbert's Steak House, Mendokoro Ramen, Ramen Yushoken. Ramen Yushoken and Elbert's Steak House are old time favorites of ours so we had to try this place out!
Located along Chino Roces right beside the Mazda dealership, Kazunori is a modern looking, well-lit Japanese restaurant. It was packed when we got in but we were lucky to get seats at the bar. The server mentioned to us that most people get reservations to make sure they get a table. She also patiently explained to us all the questions we had about the menu.
We ended up getting her recommendations: Kakiage for starters, Unatamadon for him and Chirashi for me. The kakiage was huge but one of the most delicious fritters we've had: juicy vegetables with some shrimp deep fried to a crisp! Think onion rings but so so much better! Pour soy sauce with shredded ginger and radish for more flavor! The unatamadon was a combination of omurice (buttery omelette on rice) and grilled eel - the hubby would have liked it to have a bit more eel but nonetheless it was delicious. I enjoyed my chirashi as well - there was a generous amount of fresh fish, crunchy cucumber and juicy tamago, with bursts of saltiness from the ikura (fish roe).
A little pricey but a nice place to go for a date or a special meal with family or friends!
This restaurant is great. Great ambience and great service. I loved their interiors and it blends well with the showroom of Mazda. I think they are still on soft opening but we ordered their katsudon and my wife order their soba. We loved the food. It was good and we can't wait to try their other dishes. Hope they introduce more items on their menu.
