Kaisen Gozen was insanely delicious! Both quantity and quality of this lunch set was extremely satisfying! Soup was amazing though it wasn't miso, so I don't know what to call it. The potato salad was terrific; I could taste Kewpie! The 2 boxes filled with assorted generous servings of sashimi, veggies, and rice were very fresh and delicious! Even the slimy sea urchin is noteworthy!
Budget here during lunch is near Php500 but you get what you pay for. There's no service charge and they serve refillable hot or cold tea. Restroom has an interesting toilet set-up. Restaurant is well-known for sashimi so make sure your tummy has a bit of food before you start eating raw.
Overall, this place is expensive but worth it and perfect for occasions and romantic dates, or regular casual visits if you have the purchasing power.
It reminds me of a classic Japanese izakaya in Shinjuku or the small bars in Toshima. There were a lot of Japanese expats who dine in which gives already a hint of its quality. The price is very reasonable compared to its neighboring competition (Kikufuji) albeit the serving size is smaller. The sahsimi were very fresh and firm. We really liked their spice hamachi maki the most. It had more fish and less rice which makes it good value. I would definitely go back!

The lunch boxes are already great value for money. Quality is the best one in Manila (and i eat a lot of Japanese food) Order the Saba Mackerel, or the Chirashi lunch set. Then order an additional salmon sashimi

great authentic japanese cuisine...love the saikoro steak cubes!!!
The place for sushi, sashimi and other Japanese delicacies
Favorite authentic Japnese restaurant ❤️ the ambiance is cozy, family-friendly, and the food does not disappoint!
Our favorite Japanese restaurant! Love the food. Wide menu. Good value for money.
Some of my friends even invited me to visit the place but every time we plan it. out, it gets cancelled. But J wanted to really eat there one time and I. figured that it’s about time to make it happen. Tucked inside Little Tokyo hides a. Japanese gem or so what foodies say. I actually had a bit of difficulty finding
BOMB FOOD EVERY SINGLE TIME. ALWAYS A DESTINATION WHEN IN THE AREA. LUNCH SET MENUS ARE SUPER GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY TOO.
If you’re looking for authentic Japanese food, this is where you must go! Never been beaten by any other Japanese restaurants in Manila. The service is fast too.
One of the best places for Sushi and Sashimi to go with your choice of warm or cold sake. One of the remaining gems inside the Little Tokyo area in Makati.
"Seruna" at the entrance of Little Tokyo is a high-quality Japanese Bar. There was sashimi for lunch and I was able to eat with confidence. Not only fish from the Philippines but also Norwegian salmon etc. were used. Seats are always filled with lots of customers.
Serene place to enjoy japanese food. Not too crowded, simple ambiance with a relaxing vibe. Spicy salmon sashimi has the right combination of fresh and clean taste.
I absolutely love Seryna. The food is always good, and the place is cozy. It's a nice place for lunch or dinner + drinks. My friends and I had lunch there yesterday, and we washed it all down with a nice bottle of sake. Yum!
I don't have much photos but everything was good! We had multiple orders of the salmon sashimi, mixed tempura, Wagyu cubes and yakitori.
Can't recommend this place enough.
We ordered the ff. for 2: 2 Spicy Salmon Sashimis and a Roll (yup we love salmon), Spicy Tuna Roll, Tako Karaage (fried octopus tentacles), and Chicken Teriyaki. All of those plus a beer cost us P1800, which is cheap considering the quality and how full we were after. Will definitely be back!
One of the best places for sushi! I recommend going at noon time to avail of their lunch sets, this way you get to sample of a wide variety of food without spending too much (P430-460).
Serving sizes are modest but the quality is superb.
The place is quite dim and intimate.
Parking space is available but very limited. Mall parking across the street is available.
Hands down one of the authentic Japanese food I've tried in the Metro! We tried their sushi and maki and I can say they've got one of the freshest catch! Will surely be coming back
The place for the freshest sashimi! I got the Goten Mori with 5 kinds of sashimi - salmon, bluefin tuna, tuna scallop and octopus. Wow! So fresh and with all the natural taste of the seafood shining thru'.
Next I had Ume - chef's selection of assorted sushi. It comes with miso soup. Again, excellent stuff!
It is one of the authentic stops in the Little Tokyo strip. You know it is when a number of its diners are Japanese. We celebrated my brother's birthday here a few weeks back, and despite our big number (20 plus of us with kids), they were able to accommodate as well.
If you are in search for the freshest sashimi and sushi in town, Seryna got you covered. We ordered platters of maguro (tuna), salmon, uni, ika (squid), and tamago (egg). Some of this raw seafood was served in a hotpot. It was a delicious soup, full of natural flavors. I also loved their version of Spicy Tuna Salad.
Our table also got appetizers. We had a healthy fix of Edamame, Agadeshi Tofu, and Gyoza. I personally paired it with lightly seasoned Japanese Fried Rice. We also got Yasai Itame or stir-fried vegetables and fried mackerel.
Overall, our lengthy stay here was memorable. It was like we were in one of the restaurants in Japan. I highly recommend you visit as well.
The place is accessible; situated inside the Little Tokyo block in Lagazpi Makati and just across the Makati Square. I recently celebrated my birthday lunch here and it is indeed a wonderful experience. I ordered this lunch sushi sashimi set and, oh men, it was very satisfying.
My favourite place to eat Moriawase Sashimi (5 Kinds) best place to sit is at the bar and watch the chef delicately prepare the fresh sashimi. Best partnered with Hibiki 11 years
Situated in Little Tokyo, this is by far the best Japanese sushi house I've ever eaten in in my life! It goes the modern route with modern chairs and tables AND the traditional Japanese horigotatsu (of which there are several booths), where the table is low to the ground that you have to sit on the floor.
Their sashimi and sushi are the freshest I’ve ever tasted. They even have a Japanese chef cutting up the fresh slabs of fish at the bar before serving it to you. Go for their sashimi, sushi, and their chirashi, which is served with gohan. Mmmmm!
I’ve only been here once but I can’t wait to go back.
I would rate this place 4.75. One of the few I think that serves raw horse meat. Nice place and good customer service. One of the jap restos I would recommend.
Authentic and has good service! Kaisen is def worth trying, so as the fresh oysters! That quail eggs wrapped in bacon is to die foooooor! Il be back soon!!!
Actual rating: 3.9
We had the yakiniku roll, spicy salmon roll, kaki (oyster) fry, ika geso (squid tentacles) karaage, and kushiyaki moriawase (10 pcs of assorted yakitori sticks).
The yakiniku roll surprised me, beef and mayo mix complimented well. Beef was cooked perfectly, serving was kinda generous relative to other places. The spicy salmon roll for me was underwhelming. I expected more filling of salmon, it was lacking in its “sauce” and crunchy tempura flakes. It was okay, but I expected something much better.
The ika geso karaage was unique. It’s like you’re eating twister fries. Good to try! Kushiyaki moriawase is something I’d recommend. It has a variety of yakitori that you can share per stick since it has 2-4 pieces of meat per stick. Most were cooked perfectly, although leaning on the overcooked side, where some became dry, like the chicken liver, and the pork strips. I didn’t like the meat ball like food, tasted like bola-bola.
The star in that sampler was the bacon wrapped egg and the chicken liver. They were addicting. The gizzard was kinda chewy, well, as expected. Flavor wasn’t that strong, so you won’t really need more rice to eat them with.
Service was good and quick. I’d go back.
The fried oysters were great! The fried squid is also good, kinda tastes like mcdo’s twister fries. The yakitori were average as well as their maki (spicy salmon and yakiniku). But the most notable would be (surprisingly), their free appetizer (seaweed in sweet sauce) loved it!
Seryna is our go-to sushi restaurant in Makati and we always sit by the bar to watch the chefs prepare our meal. It is better to go early as this place tends to be packed with people. If you are into nigiri, order the Sushi Gozen for variety and perhaps reorder an ala carte plate of whichever sushi you liked best from the platter. If you want to eat sushi but you get intimidated by nigiri, you can begin with a sushi roll instead. The Salmon Negi Toro Maki (Scallion and Salmon Roll) is a good choice.
Bring socks when you dine in, they dont allow shoes in their dining hall. The place is a bit old, but clean including their rest rooms. Thier food has that authentic Jap tast esp the wagyu cubes 😊 overall a 4.0 for me, cost will be 800 per head for a group of 6 adults.
This is my favourite Restaurant in Little tokyo. It is by far the cleanest in my opinion. Their sashimi’s are always fresh and their salmon is sweet! Their wagyu cubes are just incomparable their soft and melts in your mouth. During lunch their offer really yummy and super sulit lunch bento specials! I always look forward to coming back!
If you love Japanese food this restaurant should be in your top list to visit. The menu is extensive and the portions decent. We tried several sashimi and my favorite “saikoro” cube steak which I swear to god literally melts in your mouth. Do make reservations if your a group, the restaurant gets full easily
Unlike the neighboring japanese restaurants, Seryna offers quality food in a clean setting. Their lunch bento boxes are the best value in town, and heavy for even the big eaters out there. Their wagyu cubes are legit; melt in your mouth and full of flavor. These are also available for purchase frozen.
Always a good place to go to for cheap Japanese good. Best time to go is always lunch time where you’re treated to some specials.
There’s always a line here. Come early or wait.
Kaisen Gozen was insanely delicious! Both quantity and quality of this lunch set was extremely satisfying! Soup was amazing though it wasn't miso, so I don't know what to call it. This is the most authentic Japanese restaurant I’ve ever tried. The place was actually quite intimidating when we first walked in since it was filled with Japanese, it felt like we teleported to Japan and was intruding some activity. It was a completely new experience.
This was where I had my first Chirashi and I haven’t had anything better since. Highly recommend this place 👍🏻
My family just loves this place. Everything here is good, especially their cubed steaks - melt in your mouth goodness! Also love their sashimi and chirashi dishes. Better get a table early as this place is usually packed.
Upon entering Seryna, you know that you are in an authentic Japanese restaurant. It also has a dress code to take note(no slippers nor sleeveless shirts for men).
Let's get to the food!
The highlight of Seryna in my opinion is their high quality sushi and sashimi. The freshness of the ingredients used made every dish worth the price. Of the many choices available, we're able to try out the following:
Matsu (P980), a platter consisting of 8 different kinds of sushi (tuna, salmon, uni, salmon roe, etc.) Nanaten Mori (P860), another platter consisting 7 different kinds of sashimi (tuna, salmon, octopus, etc.)
Oo-toro (P1,800), 5 pcs fatty tuna which melts in your mouth literally! Worth trying even though it was very pricey.

A good restaurant especially for lunch. Their sushi and sashimu are good and substantial. Sitting is mafe in sort of compartments. The place is rather dark. No particular effort was made to create an atmosphere but food is good and reasonably priced. That is the most important thing after all.
Their spicy hotate nigiri simply bursts in flavours inside your mouth! Unagi is silky and buttery, while their plump maguro has the biggest fish portions compared to other sushi bars.. simply the best!
This place is always packed during lunch time because it's cheaper during that time in most Japanese restaurants with their lunch bento boxes. My brother and I love the sukiyaki set, because it's so worth it. We would wake up despite sleeping really late just for us to eat here before!
By far, one of our top 2 favorite Japanese restaurant in the country!
The service is quick. The food is fresh. The flavors are authentic! And the ambience is a mix of modern and traditional izakaya.
It's pure joy sitting by the sushi counter, watching the chef prepare the food. If only they have nigiri omakase... *sigh!*
The overall food was great and the seafood are fresh. You are just like dining in japan and the place is quite calm and very relaxing. I enjoyed is the soft shell crab!! since it was my first time trying it. I must say it is very delicious!!! It was expensive though but it was worth every penny! My first try of the uni sashimi is to die for because I could taste its freshness. I wanted to
go back and dine here again since it was not to crowded :)
Located in the famous Little Tokyo along Chino Roces in Makati City, Seryna is one Japanese restaurant that everyone must try at least once in their life.
Upon entering Seryna, I got an instant, classic, Japanese ambiance. The place was dimly lit; the servers wearing kimono dresses; and there were both regular and Chabudai or short legged tables, where you can comfortably hang your feet below a hollow space.
The food was simply amazing. My friend and I ordered different sashimi, and they were all fresh and delicious. Besides these, we also ordered sushi, soft tofu, buttered oysters, and the house sake.
The only thing I've got a complaint for is the temperature. Although they had a fan beside our table, it was still a little bit hot, and upon asking our kind server, I was told that the air conditioning is usually weak. It's a good thing that it improved as the night progressed (perhaps the cold sake helped).
We were attended by different servers who seemed to know the menu, as they offered suggestions especially when some of my first options were out of stock already.
Overall, I'd love to go back to Seryna. It's a good place for either an intimate date or a fun meal with family or friends.

If you are looking for an authentic Japanese food, Seryna at Little Tokyo infront of Makati Cinema Square is the place to visit. Their bento boxes during lunch time is a must try and has reasonable price. They serve good quality of sashimi bento box and maki.
Food : 4/5
Price : 3,5/5
Place : 3,5/5
Service : 3,5/5
Served delicious food especially it's scallop. But a bit pricey. Always full when dinner time, suggest to reserved first before going there.
We're back in Little Tokyo last Saturday. And finally had my first dining experience in Seryna. At exactly 11:30 AM, we get a slot in the front parking and we're quickly seated as soon as we enter the place. And before the clock strikes 12noon, the place is jampack. And I get to realize that this place serves serious Japanese dishes🇯🇵
We are handed a lunch meal menu.
We ordered:
🇯🇵Saikoro Steak (P980) served in a sizzling plate are superb soft beef cubes with lemon & butter on top.
🇯🇵Kaisen Gozen (P490) lunch meal set that has rice, lots of raw seafoods (prawn, salmon roe, mackerel, uni, tuna, salmon, etc), and soup & potato salad sidings.
Verdict: i had the Saikoro Steak, it literally melts in your mouth. These wagyu cubes are cooked to perfection. It may come in a steep price, but these are worth every bite. The Kaisen menu set is one complete meal at a "sulit" price. Would love to come back here. I enjoyed everything😊

Stopped by seryna for their sushi, but stayed for dinner instead. They really do have one of the best sushi in the area - fresh and never frozen.
Ordered a couple of other things too like ebi tempura and yakitori. There were so-so. The tempura was nicely cooked, but the shrimps were just way to small for its price. The yakitori was bland, and the beef tongue was particularly tough.
Seryna is one of my favorite restaurants in Little Tokyo! I've loved it since the first time I've tried it. The place gets crowded though so I suggest you call ahead for a reservation.
I recommend their Salmon Sashimi, their fried squid tentacles, and their Saikoro Steak. Also, make sure you try their Unagi Eel -- it's to die for!!
Food definitely looks good!
It's relatively affordable when you compare its price to other restaurants. The service took a little too long to serve us our food. The Chirashi, although fresh, didn't really stand out. No unique taste. Kind of disappointing since other reviews raved about it. Maybe it's just me. Oh well.
It gets full around lunch time so make sure you are able to reserve seats.
Has my vote as best restaurant in Little Tokyo. Dont miss the Chirashi, the dish i keep going back to. Can be pricey though. Interior will need to be updated soon
Itadakimasu!
Last September 28, to celebrate our friend's birthday, we decided to explore Little Tokyo. As most of the restaurants we wanted to try were either too pricey or full, we settled down in Seryna, which gave us a taste of Japan.
Food. 4.5/5
The food was great. I ordered separately from the group (there were four of us) because they opted to have food that has seafood base. I had, if my memory serves me right, a chicken teridon. I was actually overwhelmed by the bowl filled to the brim. I thought I wouldn't be able to finish it but is was too sumptuous not to. :D My friends also gave great feedback about the other food, including the maki roll which is the birthday celebrant's favorite.
Ambiance. 4.5/5
Though the place is teeming with activity, it is quite spacious, neat and organized. We settled down on one of those semi-booths, giving us a semblance of the Japanese restaurants we often see in Japanese animes and series. However, the lighting was a bit dim.
Staff. 4.5/5
The staff are very approachable and accommodating on our every demand and request. A dedicated waiter oversaw our dining experience and she seemed happy to be of service to us.
Price. 4/5
The price, although a bit steep, justifies the food served.
Overall, it was a great dining experience. Makes me want to year for Tokyo, the actual one :)
Tucked in a narrow street not so far from Makati , this restaurant supposedly serves some of the best Japanese food in Manila. Crab salad was awesome , Caledonia roll was ok , we have had better ones. Highlight of the night soft shell crab , we ate the whole crab without removing the shell. It was nice of them to give us a table without a reservation, service was very prompt.
Loved their grilled gindara and ika sashimi. Their sake and maguro sashimi was so-so. Price is fairly expensive considering the food portion sizes. Their service is quite quick and very accommodating.
We came at around 8:30 pm and the restau was breaming with people in the know. Its very feeling Tokyo in a way except that you can order sushi, tempura, yakitiri in one roof. But tgey do it all well. We ordered the special sashimi platter with toro and all and it was oh so good and fresh. The sake was served very cold. The thing that was a bit of a letdown was that several of the dishes we ordered were already finished for the day. Oh well it only goes to show everything is fresh daily and we just have to come earlier.
Our visit to Seryna was a planned trip so we were able to reserved a few days before. As you know, meals in the Little Tokyo area require a reservation.
We were pretty overwhelmed with their extensive food choices. Just like any other Japanese meal, we started with a sashimi platter (San Ten Mori or 3 Kinds of Assorted Sashimi). All types tasted fresh and the serving was just enough for 2-3 people. We also ordered 5pcs Kushiyaki Moriawase or Grilled Assorted Skewers + Buta Bara or Skewered Pork Belly. The platter mostly include different chicken parts. All the skewers (including the pork belly) were a bit dry. My friend also got Chirashi Sushi or Sashimi Mix on Sushi Rice. I didn’t like it because I’m not fond of eating sashimi with rice. We also ordered sushi but I forgot what it’s called. Not sure if it’s Salmon Roll but it had salmon wrapped in it and grilled fish on top each piece. I like the taste and texture of the sushi and the grilled fish gives it a little crunch when you chew it. My friends ordered other dishes - eel and spicy salmon. Despite eating a lot of different dishes, I’m still hungry so I ended up ordering ebi tempura and a cup of rice.
Came here for Sunday brunch and they have a huge selection of food to choose from.
Cube steak was good and also their sashimi. A little pricey but quality is pretty good too. Would come back for sure.
We were supposed to have lunch today in Izakaya Kikufuji but the place was packed so we decided to try Seryna out instead. I must say that Seryna did not disappoint!
Food was great! We ordered the spicy salmon sashimi, spicy tuna roll, buttered oysters and 5pcs. Ebi tempura. Food serving was fast and efficient and the staff was very accommodating. The ambiance and the interiors elevated the dining experience even if we had to eat at the communal table. We will definitely be back!
I would have given this place a rating of 5 if it wasn't for the indifferent staff who seem not to care much about people who dine alone. I must say that I was taken aback by the authenticity of their ambiance. You know its truly good Japanese food if most of their customers are also Japanese. Don't expect much from the service. This would be my go-to Japanese restaurant. Interiors are dark and intimate lighting throughout the resto but it makes for a really interesting experience. I strongly recommend their sushi bar, its one of the best I've seen!
This is the best Japanese restaurant that Ive been to here in Metro Manila. If youre a fan of sashimi and sushi, this is the best place to be. For P380 you can get a lunch bento meal that'll satisfy your Japanese food craving and more....just a warning: come early or make a reservation. This place is always jam-packed. Theres parking at Makati Square.
Definitely a must try for those who love Japanese food. Seryna offers authentic Japanese food. The moment you step inside the restaurant, it's like you are in Japan already. The place is always packed, so it's best to call for reservations. We went on a Sunday thinking there wouldn't be a lot of people, but we were wrong so we had to wait for a few minutes to get seated. The food is delicious, and their lunch sets are really value for money. Average cost per head would Php500 minimum.
Authentic Japanese cuisines evident by its customers-Japanese- packed with diners lunch or dinner, weekdays or weekends, reservation is a must. Genuine Japanese ingredients, fresh, delectable, rich, and everything in between. Worth a try. Ideal for anniversary celebration.
Throwback review:
When we entered the restaurant, wow.... It's so packed. Full house. The friendly guard smiled and told us it's full house... Lol... He told us to wait a while. It's our first time there, and I was hungry. So I thought to eat at other shops behind Seryna. But the place behind didn't look comfortable, was a bit oily and smoky feeling.. So we were determined to wait for a seat in Seryna..
The guard is so nice, that he came out looked at the corner for us, and told us customer is leaving soon. And told us to wait just a bit more. Finally, we gotten our seat and clean table. We didn't wait for Long actually. They were fast... We had the private seating area to the side. Although the place is quite noisy, cuz it's not a Super big place, but it's filled with customers on every seat. It's quite a bustling ambience. Every server is busy and going around like crazy. But they were never slow or miss out on any requests or hand raised up. Service is excellent!!!
As for the Menu..... WOW! Super comprehensive huge variety of food they've got. I wish I can order more, Hahahaha... But it's already ALOT I ordered. Everything looks nice on the menu, so much choices to choose from. And when the food is served, it looks just as tasty as I expected! Or rather exceeded my expectations! Everything is beautifully done, taste and Flavours are to my very satisfaction. The Wagyu is Super tender and chewy and juicy... Gravy soup is soooooo good. This place has some very fine chefs indeed! Even the salad..... It's like an Art or what. I love every dish. Food is served rather quick too, despite full house customers.
This is the best Japanese restaurant in metro Manila! Actually better than the ones i had in Singapore and Hongkong by far.. Congrats!!!! 5 star!! Will come back again :)
*** See the pictures that I attached. It shows more than my words can describe. Looks so yummmmmmy right?????!!!!! YOU MUST TRY!!
Definitely one of the best places for sashimi in Metro Manila! Their salmon was very fresh and pretty generous. 😋
Their katsudon and kakiage were also good, but very much overshadowed by the sashimi.
It was one of those days when I was just really craving for sashimi. Since I worked in Makati, the best option was to go where else but Little Tokyo.
I can say this place serves authentic Japanese food due to the presence of many Japanese people. I've never heard so much Japanese language except when I'm watching anime.
Enough about that, let's talk about the food. I ordered their San Ten Mori. It's 3 kinds of sashimi. Salmon, Maguro (tuna) and Ika (squid). I love how fresh and how it melts in your mouth. The beef slices in their gyudon is juicy and tender. We also had their tempura (3pieces). All were fresh, and crispy to the tail.
We shell out 1k++ for just these 3 dishes. Prices are a bit steep, but if you consider the place and the authenticity, it's worth it.
Ordered Goten Mori, Gindara Teriyaki, and Saikoro Steak.
The sashimi I think approaches the best I have tasted in Japan. A little wasabi on the chopsticks, dipped in the soy, and then placed on the sashimi. You can taste the freshness of the sashimi without getting too much soy on the meat.
The gindara and the steak were both melt in the mouth. Subtle flavours from the sauce and marinade do not distract the palate from the taste of the fish and beef.
The waitress who took our orders was superb. Helpful and knowledgable. The other staff were however showing the effects of a long day.
It is not cheap but worth every cent. I understand why Seryna has got a 4.7 out of 5 rating on Zomato.
As expected from a Japanese joint, service was of surgical precision. And that's something to be said since I was here on a Sunday night along with dozens of families toting little children. The Gyudon, potato salad, sushi platter, and the Teriyaki and Hamashi rolls were excellent. The serving sizes enough for sharing with 3. The clincher: always a special treat to see the chef prepare food in front of you.
One of the must go restaurants in Little Tokyo, Makati.
I first visited this little gem 5-6 years ago but all I could remember was that I was satisfied with my food and there were a lot of Japanese who were also dining.
I decided to go back yesterday. My companion and I had a superb dinner.
Here are our orders(for 2pax)
Suno mono Moriawase(assorted seafood in vinegar)
- I love how fresh the seafood were. They changed the usual octopus to imported ones with extra charge. And it was worth it. I just think that the vinegar is a bit bland(but, that's just me because i like my vinegar to be really sour).
San Ten Mori(3 kinds of Mori)
- consists of Salmon, Maguro and Ika. I am so satisfied with this. They were fresh and delicious. You can actually distinguish the extraordinary texture inside your mouth.
Jo Salmon - special fresh salmon
- we actually ordered their ordinary salmon sashimi but it was sold out(we came in at almost 10pm) so we opted for this one. It is more expensive than the ordinary salmon sashimi but this is the best that I've tasted so far. I'm still daydreaming about this sashimi. Still lingering on that taste, on that texture! Writing about it makes me crave for more. 😨
Spicy tuna roll
-ordinary, nothing really special about it but yes, it was delicious. Ordinary delicious. There are restaurants who serve better-tasting ones.
Torikawa(chicken skin) and chicken liver
- favorite! Next to nanbantei :)
Ambience and Service:
It is amazing that they are able to maintain the place. It was as if you're dining in a restaurant in Japan.
Service was good. No complaints but at that time, the place was not packed.
Must try. Will come back for sure.
Their lunch menu is value for money at P380 but if you love raw fish, stop by for dinner for a great sushi experience. The monk fish liver, spicy scallop temaki and matsu sushi will make the stress of the day go away. Order a nice bottle of sake to go with it and you will fall asleep with a smile on you face.
This Japanese Resto is truly an awesome one.
I love their Lunch Menu! 😍 For only Php380, you'll be absolutely stuffed! It is also always an amazing meal too.
I love the Kaisen Gozen. It has something like 10 different kinds of sashimi: salmon, tuna, shrimp, sea urchin, fish roe, squid, and a few others I'm not sure what they were. Hahaha! Their sashimi is also very fresh. 😊
Service is pretty good even if they're absolutely full. They get really packed... so go early OR prepare to wait. The wait is always worth it anyway. 😊
My hubby is really into japanese food. He planned to meet me after office to try the japanese food recommended by his officemate which is near my office. The seryna is located at what they called "little tokyo" in makati. The food was surprisingly amazing.
My Take:
1. Food - serving is worth the price, quality, and taste. I had the bento lunch set, and it tasted legit. Very authentic.
2. Price - Given that it's in Little Tokyo and it's authentic, therefore it's also Japan price as well. I repeat, worth it!
3. Ambiance - Cozy, and authentic japanese thanks to the interiors.
4. Service - Good.
Really authentic Japanese experience and food. Their washroom doesn't even lag behind the entire interior of the place. Great place to bring your family or your anime-loving friends or basically just anyone who lives for Japanese food.
This is value for money right here. The Kaisen Gozen (Chirashi Sushi) lunch set costs not more than PHP 400. It comes with soup, salad, appetizers, and dessert. The assorted sashimi were fresh. Dear God, I wanted seconds, thirds, fourths... You get the idea. The significant other ordered the Sukiyaki Gozen. It was delicious and filling. I'm glad that there's an ample amount of tofu and enoki mushrooms in the sukiyaki. It was also served with soup, salad, appetizer, and dessert.
I'm one stuffed and happy Jap girl after binging here. 😄

Been to Seryna probably thrice now and during all my visits, the place was packed! Probably one of the really authentic Japanese restaurant I have been to. Serving the traditional sashimi and bento, Seryna focuses more on the freshness and the technique on how they prepare their dishes. The place also feels like you are eating at one of the restos in Japan!
Delish! Will be our ideal Japanese place! The sashimi is great and very fresh! Next time we will order the grilled fish and sushi. We will definitely come back!
Known for their value for money lunch bentos, Seryna would always be a staple in terms of authentic Japanese restaurants in the country. Yes it's a must try for you to get the staples of sashimis, tempuras, but we took a chance in one teppanyaki which is the Saikoro steak ( meat cut into cubes) it definitely didn't disappoint. Price points may be a bit high, but definitely worth every peso spent on this joint.
Their Kaisen Bento is a must try during lunch. It may seem pricey compared to other restaurants in Little Tokyo but they offer authentic japanese food that will definitely fill your stomach. They may not be the best resto in Little Tokyo but they clearly is a place you'll never go wrong.
I have celebrated many occasions at Seryna, that has become a tradition to come here once every month. It is by far, the best in Manila.
How often does one get to personally taste the handiwork of a man who has been obsessively honing his craft for over twenty years? Anyone who has seen the movie Jiro Dreams of Sushi understands the devotion, dedication, and near-obsession in the art of creating the perfect sushi. I see it as a pornographic one, food pornography that is.
A lot of Japanese cuisine is defined by subtle flavors. Seryna's sushi definitely pushes the bolder edge of the envelope with its stronger flavors. The rice is more strongly vinegared and the wasabi has a bigger punch. Not everyone prefers a strongly vinegared rice, but it definitely holds up well to many of the stronger flavored sushi pieces.
The uni is fantastic, just like most of the uni I’ve tried in Japan. It’s sweet, creamy, and has absolutely no hint of the funky stinkiness that I associate with the cheap ones. I’m hesitant that it will fit in my mouth in one bite, but the chef insisted that it’s the only way to truly enjoy it. He’s right. I love how the uni just dissolves and incorporates itself all around the perfect rice. Quite a heavenly bite, I must say.
The tamago here is awesome. Blended somehow with fish paste and sugar (among other ingredients), the tamago is sweet yet definitely has underlying tones of subtle umami. The razor-thin edge is gorgeously browned, and the entire piece is luxuriously spongy, moist, and soft. It almost tastes more like a delicate sponge cake than a traditional omelette.
Seryna's sushi is incredible and definitely ranks up there as one of the best sushi meals I’ve ever had. Several things really stand out: the top notch quality of the fish; the incredible sushi rice; and that delicious tamago.
Continuing our Little Tokyo visit, we headed to Seryna for lunch.
We arrived right when the restaurant opened. Three kinds of seating were available. First is the lowered seating you see in the photo above. Next is the normal seating. Last is the few seats at the sushi bar.
Complementary hot or cold tea is available. We ordered three different lunch bento sets which all come with soup, salad, fruit, and rice.
The sushi chef in action! You get to see your sushi and sashimi orders being prepared here. Excited to see my kaizen gozen lunch set.
Kaizen Gozen Bento
Two layer bento box. The top layer has mixed sashimi and shredded radish. The second layer had the vinegared rice, tamago, and some ginger. It my first time to try some of the sashimi in the bowl since my previous sashimi experience only involved tuna and salmon. Uni , salmon roe, two other fish sashimis, were served in the box.
Sukiyaki Bento
Sweet, tangy, tender beef strips make up their sukiyaki. The amount of beef and the taste is sure to leave one full and satisfied.
Sabayaki Bento
For those who prefer (cooked) fish, they also offer three kinds of grilled fish. We ordered the mackerel one.
I would also like to add that the grapes in their sets were the one of the sweetest I ever tasted. Serves as the perfect fruit dessert. We definitely had a filling meal.
To close out our Little Tokyo series, here is a photo of their wine wall. Cheers to more lunches like this!
Can't imagine another restaurant in Manila having more authentic Japanese food than here. So glad I came here in a big group so I could try many things. Sashimi was so fresh and I also enjoyed the yakitori platters....on my list of Manila favourites!
3 of us ordered salmon sashimi and shime saba (super fresh ang big cuts), kani salad (deceivingly big plate of shredded lettuce and a few kani strips but tastes ok), agedashi tofu (yum!), oyakudon (my friends loved this), ebi tempura (yay!), 5 assorted yakitori (a bit dry and some tough to chew), and pan seared salmon (another yay!). Would love to order the beef menu but my 2 companions dont eat beef :( still had a great time coz of the good service and nice ambiance.
Wow ! Amazing Japanese food ... Everything is more than words ... You must try the baked butter oyster .... !!! And salmon roll .. No one can beat it
The Japanese expats I used to work with consider this as the most authentic Japanese food in Manila. We have tried their lunch bentos and we were never disappointed. They use fresh ingredients for their food and the restaurant itself feels like we are back in Tokyo. Seryna and Kikufuji are the restaurants you should be visiting when in the Little Tokyo area.
Great food, good ambience, good attention, but the place has a lot of roaches. There were 2 just on my table while i wss eating and i saw a couple more on the floor. Other than that its a good place.
Their food never failed to make me happy. Good service. Great soba for a hot day like now! Kinda pricy but its good to treat yourself once in a while.
Japanese food at its finest! Ambiance was also good. Old resto but the quality of food is pretty good. The place is packed on weekends. One thing needs improvement: ladies restroom does not have a lock which is really wierd!
Searching for the best sushi and tempura in Metro Manila? Search no more! Seryna is the closest to authentic Japanese experience in Manila. They have a very cozy and posh ambiance, too. 5 stars!
Since my appetite for japanese food is never satisfied, I tried another resto at Little Tokyo called Seryna. Interior is modern and better than that of Izakaya Kikufuji, although smaller. We ordered the spicy tuna sushi and the grilled saba with chahan rice and it was sooo good!!! Perfect japanese go-to resto for meeting up with friends. Will be back :)
It's one of the best japanese restaurant by far! The gindara is amazingly good, the sashimi is so fresh i love to dig in to it more.. The ambience is as cute as the ones in Japan. My overall experience is great. Will definitely be back here for more.
I come for lunch and stay at the bar. Every component of the set lunch is good. The soup is light and flavorful. Something you would not expect when you look at something that looks just like tap water. Fish is fresh. Potato salad is good. Grapes are seedless and sweet. Spectacular value at 380.
