Still an all time fave. Love their general’s chicken and gising gising. Almost everything on their menu are good specially those marked with a star which means “All Time Favorites”.
Delicious: Chicken Sotanghon Soup, Lumpia Toge, Generals Chicken, Bangus Belly Steak and the Rice!
Price : Affordable!
Service: Good
Will try their other dishes next time.
Too hungry or tired to try new places? Recipes in Greenbelt has been my fail-proof fave since 2008. There's comfort in knowing that the taste and portions of the General's Chicken, Lechon Kawali with Kangkong, Crispy Tilapia, Gising Gising, and Vegetable Kare Kare remain superb. Even the service and cleanliness remain topnotch, which makes it my fave branch :)
Affordable and tasty, their food deserves five stars. We always order gising-gising (without meat), and the quality has always been consistent. It’s one of the few Filipino restaurants that separate the meat from the vegetables, so vegetarians get to enjoy Pinoy favorites like kare-kare and gising-gising sans the meat.
I was here 2/15/2019
I was out with a friend and basically didn't have any idea of where to go so my friend suggested Recipes.
First off, the ambience, we had dinner inside. I'm not entirely sure if they did have outdoor seating. It's not special inside and sometimes the kitchen gets noisy. You can't blame them, kitchenware could be a bit clanky when banging to each other. But basically, this is the only cons I have other than they don't take debit, only credit cards.
The food, we ordered the Kare-kare and General's chicken as per my friend's advice since she loves this place.
The kare-kare wasn't what I expected it to be. The sauce is quite thin or rather soup-like. Unlike the normally thick kare-kare sauce. Although my friend mentioned that it's not normally how they served it. So it would've been better if they served it at its best. Other than the texture of the sauce, it was a good kare-kare.
The General Chicken, OMG. I was expecting like the traditional chicken with bones and everything. This is different, I don't know what it is they did but it tastes good. It's like sweet but also the breading of the chicken matched perfectly together. Well blended and well marinated. Tasty from the outside and the inside. These are served like Chicken popcorn-ish. So no bones at all, which is exactly how I like flavoured chickens.
As for the price per taste, definitely worth it. I'd have to say I would've easily given it a 3 just coz of the lack of ambience. But having to know that they've made a great come back for me with the great food, especially I'd like to highlight General's Chicken, you wouldn't even mind the place. Great food and definitely worth the price.
Forget to mention above so I'll just add it here, we each had 1 cup of rice only and we were full. Rice serving is actually not enough for me, but with the right consumption, it is satisfying. Personally, my belly is asking for 2 rice but that would be like 'if I was eating for heavy dinner' kind of thing.
Overall, will definitely go back and try their other meals but I will always go back just for the General's Chicken.
PS
If they can at least ensure that the kitchen noise won't be heard while dining, I may consider giving it a 5 next time around. For now, it's a strong 4. (Coz apparently I'm unable to give 4.5 for some reason)
We ate at Recipes and availed the BOGO promo of booky prime for general's chicken. The chicken was tasty and crunchy while the eggplant added another layer of texture in the dish - which is great! Gising gising, on the other hand, was plain and lifeless. Seafood rice is just ok, with little pieces of shrimp and squid, and kind of oily. General's chicken was the highlight of the night!
With prices of basic commodities on the rise, inflation at an all time high, my stock investment contracting and other investments earning minimally, living on interest is a thing of the past. I am now actively looking for deals, deals even with food that would stretch the value of my peso.
Good thing, there is the booky promo for buy one, get one free! (Zomato will launch its own gold tomorrow, 16 November with its own deals, woohoo...but I am not on the initial list boohoo):). I like it when restaurants list as promo their best selling items, in Recipe's case, the General's Chicken at P250 and get another one free! There are others that would just join to be in the list but giving out their slow movers..hayyy. We partnered it with another best seller, their Crispy Tilapia and two cups of plain rice.
General's Chicken is a good blend of sweet and spicy. The breaded chicken is crunchy and is perfectly paired with roasted sliced eggplants. The tilapia is filleted then fried. The fillet pieces are decoratively placed on top of the breaded fish body. Likewise breaded and perfectly crisped, the accompanying sauce turns it into a star. The sauce made of soy sauce and vinegar then mellowed by sugared water with some lime juice and chili highlights the delicate flavors of the fish.
I really enjoy eating when the food is delicious and I'm getting a good deal.
My first time here for Filipino food.
Had crispy Tilapia and Sinigang soup..
Very pocket friendly for sure. Their serving a big good for sharing and food authentic and good quality. Good ambiance too.
Loved it will try them again during my next visit. Will upload pics still haven’t got them.
We were the first group of indian’s dinning out there.
One of the best Filipino resto in Manila. Food are sumptious, you should try kare-kare, sinigang, escabeche and kangkong with liempo - busog lusog, we also ordered their signature bagoong to-go (ung bagoong talaga ung panalo). The only downside is they served in small portion, we ordered the food that is good for two, but the serving looks like it is only good for 1 person especially the escabeche, buti nalang mahina kumain ung friend ko 😄😄😄
Surprisingly good food. We ordered their classic chicken bowl, sinigang, and gising-gising, among others. It is one of those rainy days' go-to place to have a comforting Filipino meal in the middle of the city.
Ambiance is great. 👍
Food service time may take a little long. 🐢
Prices are adequate. 👍
Some of the food may tend to be bland. 🤔
Place is well conditioned and ventilated. ❄️
Me and my officemates went here to celebrate her birthday. The place and the food were really good. My most favorite thing here is.. I love gising gising! End of story. ♡

We all know our trip favorite - crispy tilapia, general’s chicken and gising gising plus garlic rice.
This time around though we skipped the gising gising because we availed of the Buy 1 Get 1 free deal in the Booky App for the General’s Chicken. You can download the app for free and avail of their free trial.
Orders were served very fast! I guess the food is pre or half cooked, nevertheless, I didn’t think it affected the taste and quality. So definitely a go-to restaurant for affordable food and quick service when you’re hungry!!!
I only ate once at Recipes in Greenbelt and I liked the ambiance. Bright and simple. General's Chicken is what caught my heart. I hope they add more sauce to it and more eggplant while keeping the same amount of chicken since a few more slices of eggplants wont hurt if more customers will come in. Just also to justify the price of it because it's a really small dish. At least add more sauce and eggplants, that's all.

Well, that was my third time ata. Haha. Lastly, type ko yung isang ngseserve dun. Cute sya. Christian ata name 😍. In the end ayun nkapgtake out pa ko for my tito and tita. Hahaha 😇
General’s Chicken is a must when dining at this restaurant! Our family also love their gising gising and beef steak.
I’ve been occasionally dining here since 2008 and the food still tastes the same. The staff are very friendly too!
Familiar, safe and good Filipino food. We always order the trifecta of deliciousness - Seafood Rice, Gising Gising and General's Chicken. It was just me, Mom and Dad, and this is enough for us. It can get crowded during the rush lunch and dinner times, so we usually eat after 1pm when office people start flocking back to their buildings. Gising Gising is a slightly dry version, not at all spicy which i like. The Gising Gising had crispy skin swimming in sweet salty thick soy. Chopped labuyo adds bite to the dish. Pair it up with their seafood rice and you've got a winner! Writing this review made me hungry over again. Senior discounts honored. Recommended.
I think i found.a filipino comport foods that is more affordable. We love their lumpia togue, beef steak bagoong rice, lechin kawali with kangkong. I think this my third time to try recipes in 3 location. Their bottomless icetea is tasted good also. Service is good.
Recipes is my no-fail go-to restaurant for cheap but tasty Filipino food. Especially when I want more comforting flavors that doesn't break the bank (unlike Sentro) with flavors closer what I eat at home (sorry Manam, your food tastes amazing but sometimes I want something that tastes like mom's cooking)
When here order the:
1. General's Chicken
2. Gising gising
3. Laing
Recipes serve quality and budget-friendly (mostly between P100 to P300) Filipino comfort food.
I have a staple order here: General Chicken and Gising Gising paired with either plain rice of bagoong rice. Worth your money!
Back at Recipes!! 🇵🇭🇵🇭
Recipes always be our favorite go-to Filipino restaurant. Not only are the dishes here yummy but they are also affordable! They may look small at first but a single serving is already filling and can be shared by 2-3 persona given that they'll also order another dish. Aside from the really good dishes, service here is also good. It's fast and servers are helpful and approachable. 👌🏼
Must must orders (our favorites!! 😝) are the following:
CRISPY TILAPIA
GISING GISING
GENERAL'S CHICKEN
Other favorites are the CHICKEN SOTANGHON SOUP and PANCIT BIHON. We were able to try the Spicy Squid too but nothing spicy about it. It's just like the usual calamares with chili sauce on the side.
Your money is worth the quality of the food. What I love about the concept of their restaurant is it's very classy and their staff would really make a way to accommodate you.
Service was quick and the waiters were very warm. I waited a while (more than an hour) for my family to arrive coz they got stuck in traffic, so the waiters struck conversation and joked around with me and reheated our food (which was top notch by the way, and affordable too). Will definitely be back!
Always a treat eating at recipes! We ordered:
General's chicken - this is easily one of their best dishes. The chicken is sweet but not sickening, and it combines flavor and tenderness.
Dinuguan - This was alright for me, but my mom loved it and was laying it all over her garlic rice. Worth a try.
Crispy bangus - we ordered this because their crispy tilapia specialty was unavailable. However, I am happy to confirm that this will do the trick if you're looking for a good fish substitute.
The interiors are decent and the staff is attentive. Paid about 700 for party of 2. It's a go to for yummy and affordable filipino food.
Great filipino food. Well executed. Nothing too special but worth trying. In this branch I find the interior design really bad. It's very loud inside, the voices of everyone talking bounces around the restaurant resulting to a noisy restaurant. Service is not too bad but can be improved.
Food and service are both excellent. They were able to fulfill their promise time for their food service. Generally, their food tastes great. I will definitely come back, and will also refer this to friends and family.
Lechon Kawali w/ Kangkong, Vegetable Kare Kare, and Cafe Metro Garlic Rice were delicious food items for us (2 pax).
Breakdown of Feedback:
The sauce for Lechon Kawali w/ Kangkong is already mixed in a bowl. If you separate the sauce, you just might be able to prolong the crunch of the skin. I wish the pork had less fat.
Vegetable Kare Kare is already perfect. Cheers for the sauce and bagoong!
Cafe Metro Garlic Rice is basically garlic rice with seasoning. You don't need seasoning; just get Garlic Rice, no frills.
The servers were very friendly, attentive, and efficient.
The ambience was very simple and casual.
General's Chicken and Gising Gising are great combination.
My go to place in Greenbelt when I can't think of any other restaurants to dine.
First time to try Recipes was here in Greenbelt. We had dinner here before going to the cinemas for the French Film Fest.
The place was full that time since it was peak dinner time. We were seated outside that's why it was a bit difficult to call the servers' attention. Besides this the rest of the service was good. Tried their General's Chicken and it was really nice! Had to do a take-two a few weeks after with my sister.
I love the deep fried cat fish. I will give a 4.5 to it
rest of the dish is good as well. a bit too overpowering to me compared to Manam. I think I love manam because it's not too much of anything and well combined. Recipes is a bit too much but still good enough.
The texture of every dish is just right.
I wish there was a combination of recipes and manam...

In this post: BBQ Chicken with Rice, Ripe Mango Shake
It's a solo day full of activities from tutoring, Zumba dancing, gym-ing, and shopping! Since it was almost late, I opted to go to Greenbelt 3 to look for a dining place. Recipes had their menu posted on tarp and so you can easily see what they have to offer and the corresponding price. They offer Filipino food and mostly are viands for sharing. But I also saw that they have meals which already include rice, sidings, and iced tea at price below 200Php. Just right for a soloista like me.
Really really good! Also, their meals are affordable and the serving is decent. I also like this branch because the staff are very professional and fast. I would suggest you try all their chicken meals. Also, beef steak is one of my favorites.
I always consider Recipes whenever I'm having lunch at Greenbelt.
One of my go-to restaurants in Greenbelt, Recipes serves my personal favorites - General's Chicken and Gising Gising. Really tasty and appetizing! Best to partner with lots of rice!
After a long while, I have eaten here again. Of course, I ordered our usual which is General's Chicken and Crispy Tilapia. I was reminded how I love their chicken. The sweet spicy sauce gives the chicken a nice taste but it's crispiness gives the dish texture. Would definitely go back for more.
At first, I thought this resto was just serving local foods and then when i finally had my hands on their menu i was impressed cuz they also have thai foods which my fam loves. Their Thai spring roll is a must try!
I loved their General's Chicken and Gising Gising. No wonder they are the best sellers. General's Chicken was like Korean fried chicken but more saucy and with eggplant. As for the Gising Gising, it was my first time to try the said dish and I was satisfied. Too bad their Crispy Tilapia, another best seller, was not available that time so we ordered fish fillet in curry sauce instead and we were not disappointed by the taste and flavor.
Do not judge a book by its cover.
The facade of this restaurant may not be enticing, choices not so much. But the food is something to try. When choosing what to eat, do not disregard that star symbol you will see in their menu (which actually stands for all time favorite). We ordered general chicken, gising gising, lechon kawali and garlic rice. I give 4 points for the chicken (definitely a new fave), 3 for lechon kawali and 4 for gising gising. So if you are craving for Filipino food on a budget, Recipes is a must try.
When I say good old filipino comfort food, only one restaurant comes into mind for me and that is Recipes. Go to restaurant everytime I crave filipino food that's cheap
The must try:
Gising Gising - Hands down dont even think of not ordering this. Best Gising Gising ever made up to date. Baguio beans mixed with pork cooked in spicy gata (coconut milk). They just do it right
General's Chicken - I know this is a chinese dish originally but its fried chicken tenders cooked in a sweet tangy soy based sauce together with eggplants cooked to perfection. I can eat this everyday.
Crispy Tilapia/Bangus - I recently switched to crispy bangus because of reports that tilapia is unhealthy but they still use the same seasoned flour to bread the fish and its really just a simple dish that appeals to everyone
Adobo flakes - Fried pork adobo shreds. That about sums it up. You want it.
Overall, I go to this restaurant the most for filipino food which speaks about their food. Talk about bang for buck, you really get good food for what you pay for.
Familiar, consistent, as expected.... That sums up my experience. The gising gising is still the same as when i first tried it some 5 years ago - it has a hint of spice that did not overtake the coco milk flavor. We ordered for crispy tilapia, a bestseller, but that is not available and they suggested crispy bangus which is the same dish, just with a diff fish. It didn't disappoint 👍. And the chicken curry is delicious as well. In the end, we all had clean plates. 😊
The only thing that bothers me in this place is the acoustic set up of the place - it can get very noisy when it's full. The concrete walls do not help at all.
i usually go to this place for a quick fix. i like Filipino food and my usual order would be general's chicken, crispy tilapia and gising gising. Try these three and I think you'll understand why I keep coming back.
i usually dine at their greenbelt branch and there are a lot of people during dinner time. There were several occasions we had to move to a different restaurant because it's full. I feel the place is losing a lot of potential customers because of the lack of space.
Overall, i find this place affordable without compensating the quality of the food they serve.
While me and my friends are looking for a good place to have dinner in Greenbelt, we stumble unto Recipes. The restaurant is located at the Level 2 of Greenbelt 3, Makati City. The restaurant offers affordable Filipino dishes and it has several branches already in Shangrila Plaza, Robinsons Ermita, Trinoma, Resorts World, Alabang Town Center and Ayala Terraces in Fairview.
Recipes (by Café Metro) serves mostly Filipino comfort food, as well as a few Asian dishes (Chinese, Thai, Korean). The viands are mostly straightforward---no fusion or gimmicks, just how the dishes are ought to be prepared and cooked. The food tastes good, I must say.
The restaurant's most famous dishes are the General's Chicken, Gising-Gising, Adobo Flakes, Bangus Belly with Mango Relish, and the Crispy Tilapia. Servings are good for 1-2 persons, although I must say that with the size some dishes seem overpriced (even a cup of plain rice sets you back Php 40).
Service needs to be improved, as I noticed that servers do not pay much attention to customers, especially those who are seated outside.
Recipes is the very definition of Pinoy comfort food!
The quality of food makes up for the simplicity of its interiors and the rather slow service of its staff. To be fair, the place was packed when we got seated, not to mention it was on a Sunday lunch. We ordered their best sellers, with two servings of their Cafe Metro Garlic Rice.
Pork Adobo Flakes with Egg: The first crispy adobo flakes I had was from The Bunny Baker and I have been craving for it ever since. I have tried and could not get it from Sentro and Early Bird Breakfast Club since what they served were just the adobo flakes, not the crispy, crunchy kind. Imagine my delight when I found out that Recipes had it! The flakes were deep-fried to perfection but were not oily at all. The adobo flavor was subtle; it was the texture that won me over. However, the dish comes with the adobo sauce, which was also light compared to the other ones I've tried before. It neither had a strong soy sauce nor vinegar taste. The adobo flakes complemented the garlic rice and with a little swish of the sauce, it was perfect. The egg was served hard-boiled. The dish itself is dry (if you don't use the sauce) so the hard-boiled egg does not really suit it. I want to try it with a sunny-side up next time, if possible. I believe the runny yolk would contribute to the flavor, and of course, add a bit of contrast to the crispy, crunchy flakes.
General's Chicken: This one takes the cake for flavor! It was a crunchy fried chicken dish with a sweet and savory soy sauce flavor. The sauce clings to the chicken so well, and even on the slices of eggplant, that it was so easy to finish all of it.
Gising-gising: It was the first time I had this dish and it reminded me so much of Bicol Express. It had a light coconut flavor with a spicy kick. It also had a hint of shrimp paste. The green beans were also crunchy so aside from the spiciness, the texture was also a bonus.
Garlic Rice: Strangely this was the least garlic-flavor garlic rice I've ever had. I could taste the soy sauce more, though it was subtle.
The portion of the three viands, along with the two cups of rice, were good enough for two people. The cost was reasonable especially for the quality of food. Recipes is an easy favorite when it comes to Filipino food.
Must try the Generals Chicken, Crispy Tilapia, Korean Beef Stew, Fish Fillet, Laing, Crispy Bangus, Sea Foods Rice and Bagoong Rice. Add the dessert of the day! ( buko pandan with ice cream ) Most servings are good for 2-3persons at a reasonable price.
Looking from the outside and its ambiance, RECIPES doesn't look like a Filipino Food restaurant or perhaps I get used to fiesta type Filipino restaurants.
Food is wonderfully tasty. I tried their chicken curry and garlic rice. I must say that even the garlic rice is so flavorful and very pinoy.
I also want to add that staffs from recipes are very approachable.
We had lunch at Recipes today. When we entered the place it smelled unpleasant. We ordered gising gising and crispy tilapia, the food was delicious.
On the surface, Recipes doesn't look like your typical Filipino restaurant. The interior reminds me more of a modern resort with the contemporary-looking white furniture and lighting, which is actually a refreshing move away from the typical wood-and-bamboo furniture with Filipiniana paintings. But a look at their menu confirms that they indeed serve food we Filipinos grew up with and still love.
For my first-ever visit to the restaurant, we decided to order bagoong rice, crispy tilapia, and lechon kawali, plus a side of garlic kangkong. I could have eaten that bagoong rice by its lonesome and gone home a happy camper; it's by far the best bagoong rice I've ever had. And by the way, the good-for-two bowl is enough for three, so be careful not to order too much, unless you have a really big appetite.
The lechon kawali was seasoned nicely, and the texture was just right: the skin was crispy and the meat itself was tender. The tilapia, as promised , was crunchy, but it was sorely lacking in the salt department. The soy sauce concoction it came with didn't help much. All it did was lent the fish sweetness that it didn't need. The kangkong was a nice way to keep the 'umay' at bay.
I'm definitely coming back to try their other stuff, but the bagoong rice has to be constantly on our list of things to order.
I had lunch at Recipe's today. They made humble Filipino dishes elevate without fusion. The gising gising was really flavorful; its veggies components were fresh as well as the coconut milk. I would say its a must try if you are looking for something healthy in the menu. The fried tilapia was fried to goodness too; it was very crispy and seasoned well perfect with the soy sauce dip. I had extra rice by the way, and its worth it. The ambiance was okay, the crew were polite too. The served the food fast as well. We did not ask if there was wifi access since mobile data had excellent signal here. Budget for two people is 760 pesos and above.
Recipes is my sister's all time favourite Filipino (comfort) food restaurant. At least the food here comforts here. Her go-to dishes are the beef steak tagalog, general's chicken and tilapia. My mom likes their dinuguan.
What's great about Recipes is their tasty food and affordable prices. Servers are also all so quick and on their toes.
We ordered take-out here for dinner as recommended by our friends since we really wanted to go home already. It was Sunday and there was a line for dine-in customers (good sign for good food!). We ordered the Lechon Kawali with Kangkong, their Gising-Gising and Bagoong Rice. I was not disappointed, everything was so good! The Gising-Gising was one of the best I've had! Must try!
The place is perfect for families and friends who loves to dine out and eat great Filipino food. Will definitely come back and even recommend this to my family and friends!
Love, love, love that they have a posh interior. It was lit very well, sofa sections are comfy, and the place is very clean. The food is so good! I loved their Crispy Tilapia, Pork Binagoongan, and Vegetable Kare-Kare. The Lechon Kawala with a Bed of Kangkong is just okay. The flavor of it has been watered down by the sauce. Overall, I adore the Restaurant. I will definitely return one of these days.
I was really surprised when we ended up eating dinner at Recipes. The place looks very neat and big. What really impressed me when I checked their menu is that it is very affordable.
Me and my friends decided to try some of their food items like Vegetable Kare Kare, Lechon Kawali, Pork Binagoongan and Crispy Tilapia. All servings are generous and can served up to 3 people.
I really liked the taste of their kare kare eventhough it has no meat. The Pork Binagoongan is also a favorite with its savory sauce of bagoong. Their lechon kawali is served with boiled kangkong in broth. The crispy tilapia is good though the first three is recommendable (for me).
Overall, the place is nice and foods are awesome. The serving is generous with affordable prices. This girl is a must try in Greenbelt.
Favorite is their Binagoongan. Just the right amount of bagoong was used. The saltiness is enough to satisfy your taste buds. My only fallback is the place. A great food deserves a large dining area. You need to join the pile of diners waiting to be seated.

I have already written two articles about Recipes. For my third story, I figured it is better if I just write about my love for General’s Chicken. You might say that there is really nothing new or unique about this topic. But for someone like me, who is a self-professed non-chicken fan, this dish has got a lot of punch for me to consider it a favorite. As I have said before, I still eat chicken but I avoid it as much as I can. I don’t like chicken meat that is moist and fatty. It tastes raw. I like it dry and tastless, hence, my liking for chicken breast.
If you are looking for Filipino food that's worth every cent, then go to Recipes. Ive never tasted gising-gising from other restos that can beat them or even be at par with them. Its just so good its worth raving about. And it's also cheap!
Their best-tasting General's chicken is one of my favorite aside from their Gising Gising. Their chicken is really juicy and really delicious. Same with their Gising Gising, not too spicy, yet really sooths in your taste buds. I think they should just provide more seats to accommodate more customers.
I love eating with a friend....and this place is great!!ilove the food, the ambience and the staff!! The food as per advised best seller is the best...we had gisinggising, chief chicken and calamansi shake. I will recommend this to friends as well. Great filipino dishes and courteous staff!!
A great restaurant which gives us customers what we really need. A convenient space and especially, good food. :) here you'll experience a very pinoy food with touch of other u ingredients to make dishes more interesting. :) well done by recipes. :) #justsaying
First time to dine here in Recipes, their foods already got into me.
I like the taste of their kare-kare with their bagoong but it wasn't as flavourful as other kare-kare out there. It was okay though.
Gising-gising. It was tasty and creamy but I had a taste of this dish in another resto which was very lovely.
General's chicken. I am sorry to inform you my insight about this dish. I think almost everyone that reviewed recipes loved it. I wasn't that pleased with it. One is because most of it was just the skin of the chicken. Two, there's nothing really different in it. Three, it is not a dish that would make you go back.
But I rated it four because their price is really reasonable. The interior of the resto is beautiful and the service of the crews were superb!
Beware of their restrooms, it is not clean.
Recipes has always been there in the background--not a fave, yet constantly a choice. I'd be lying, however, if I didn't say I've eaten way too many times at Recipes in most of its different branches, especially in Greenbelt.
I brought the Man here one night to impress him with good and affordable Filipino food (plus they have a lot of tofu dishes!), and impress him I did. He finally declared his undying love for Filipino food. Haha.
My favorite is their tofu teriyaki (I think they're a few of the non-Japanese restaurants serving this dish), General's tofu, and gising-gising. Their lumpiang togue and sotanghon soup as starters are value for money--big servings at such a low price. Kare-Kare for mains is a good choice, and for non-vegetarians, you have a lot of options! General's chicken and their lechon kawali are definitely bestsellers.
Tasty food presented well but won't make a hole in your wallet--that's how Recipes will always be to me. Perfect for family lunch/dinner, not so for romantic dinners. Clean place and relaxed ambiance, quick service, good food, and affordable prices--check!
It was my bestfriend's birthday so we looked for a resto where she could treat us but we were so indecisive and tired so we ended up in Recipes.
About the food: We ordered General's chicken, Fish fillet, Mixed seafood, Café metro Lengua, Café metro Garlic rice and Bagoong rice, etc. Sadly i wasn't able to chew some of the food bcos of my braces. But i still tried to sip the meat itself so i can still have a taste of them. To cut it short, i don't have negative comments about the food and the serving.
About the place: I gave it a 3.5 because i wasn't happy with the noise of the other families. I'd like to inform ya'll that i recommend this if you're going out with your family. Never bring your bf or gf here if you want a quiet/romantic place. The noise will totally ruin your date. Lastly, the crew was nice and he was able to explain every meal hehe
Their dishes are so simple but the taste definitely pops out. Each dish has a distinctive flavor (not too much, just right) to tickle those hungry palate. A perfect place to eat out with your family and friends. Nice ambiance too..Simple but comfy interiors.
A casual filipino dining, the place is simple. Food has a variety of filipino favorites, you opt for ala carte or their set of value meals. Taste is just right, nothing special, price point of their meals is of value with their servings. Recommended If your looking for filipino resto with good price point and variety.
Recipes by Café Metro is a casual-dining type of restaurant that features Asian and Filipino cuisine. Since this restaurant is located within the night-life central of Ayala Greenbelt, where boozes and party people gather, it is not that surprising that they also offer alcoholic beverages in their menu.
Good old Pinoy food!!!! Gising gising, General's Chicken, Lechon Kawali with Kangkong and Pork Binagoongan! EXTRA RICE PLEASE! All you want to drink is Sago't Gulaman after eating these sumptuous native food!
It’s always good to start off with their Thai Spring Rolls. Fried just right, dip it in the sweet chili sauce, and the vermicelli noodles and veggies inside come to life.
It’s amazing how they were able to debone their Crispy Tilapia to the point that almost no fish meat was left on the body. I also liked how it’s presented. The fillets were stacked on top of the fish. Indeed, this was very crispy. Too crispy for my liking as I almost didn’t taste the fish fillet. Still good but I prefer to having some meat amidst all that crispiness.
I really like their Gising Gising. It has the right level of spiciness that you could still eat it on its own (which I did multiple times). This one had bits of pork meat and was a little creamy. Put this on top of warm plain rice and you’re good to go.
This is my absolute favorite dish of theirs: General's Chicken. Their special sweet & spicy sauce indeed makes this special. The chicken fillets were a little overcooked but it was still very yummy. Yes, I’m a bit biased because that’s how much I love this dish. To prove my love for this, I even eat the eggplants (which I really don’t eat but this one changed my mind).
Though I still prefer the branch over at my home turf (the servers know my family back there), having to experience dining at their other branches was okay. I do find that the food quality is inconsistent with some minimal changes but still good nonetheless.
If want Filipino food this is the place to be! From gising gising to their best seller general's chicken! Kare-kare is a must try too. Sarap ng bagoong! One of the best!
We tried the branch at Greenbelt and I thought it was just another Filipino restaurant with the same menu and presumably the same taste but I was wrong. We enjoyed what we ordered Veggie Kare Kare and a different Liempo with Kangkong, somewhat on the sweet side. Also there was twist on the lumpia which was delish and we were surprised that it was relatively cheap....a must come back to try other stuff in the menu!
Recipes! Simple name. Simple food. Nothing too complicated on their menu which is good.
One of the dishes I love from Recipes hands-down is their *drumroll* Gising-Gising and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. I have tried and like their other dishes such as the Beef Tapa with Egg, Pork Adobo Flakes and Garlic Chicken but I always look for someone to share a Gising-Gising with on the side. One reason why I like their Gising-Gising is because it has just the right amount of spicy and creamy texture from the coconut based sauce unlike the other gising-gising dishes that I've tried were either way too spicy because of the amount of chii they used or just tastes so bland that I just pass it on to someone else's.
Another thing I like about Recipes is their ambiance. It has a very modern look to it with their couches having a very low backrest which makes it seem a lot more spacious. It's also kept really chilly inside which makes it a nice cool place for lunch during summer.
Delicious Filipino food at affordable rates! The atmosphere isn't very romantic though. The place is very noisy. It's like the room magnifies sound but still the food is delicious.
Recipes is a Filipino restaurant in Greenbelt. I've known Recipes for the longest time but I never really bother trying it because it looks a bit dull for a Filipino restaurant due to the fact that I'm used to the festive or cultural concepts of Filipino restaurants. But I got to try this restaurant when my friend suggested it for a dinner out. As I enter the place, it looks less fancy than a fine dining retaurant yet fancier than a casual dining. So I ordered for a Gising-gising, a vegetable and pork dish with a coconut milk sauce. This dish is a must try! I expected that it would be spicy but it's not. Eventhough my spicy expectations were not reached, they made it up through the taste of that dish. It's so tasty. I also got to try their Adobo Flakes and some dishes. The food is literally tasted like home cooked meals for me.
Service-wise, it took some time to get our food than the usual thinking that we ask if it will take time to prepare as we were just grabbing some meals before our movie started.
Ambiance is really different from other Filipino restaurants. You wouldn't know this is a Filipino restaurant if you didn't check the menu.
Overall, it was a good experience. I would definitely recommend this to all.
Giving 4 to Crispy Tilapia but I hope the serving is bigger. Giving 3.5 for everything.

Gising-gising and generals chicken is a good meal combination.
Now that I'm living away from home and my family, I'm actually missing all the home-cooked goodness my mom used to prepare for me. Since I wasn't in the mood for fast food, I decided to try Recipes. I ordered gising-gising, spicy squid, and lechon kawali with kangkong. I thought the food would taste ordinary and bland because it didn't really made that impression at first glance. But then when I tasted it, wow...Just wow. I don't know if I was just hungry at that time because the food was really amazing. It's not your typical filipino restaurant chain. The gising-gising was my favorite. I could eat this all day without getting tired of it. So yeah, thumbs up recipes!!!! Keep up the good work :)
