Watami is a Japanese casual dining restaurant that has a lot to offer. They are part of the TGIF Group of companies. . I have always love Japanese food. Well, except for makis, sushis, or anything that is raw. We decided to try Watami for a change. Here are what we ordered:. CALIFORNIA MAKI: PHP 335.00
Their Kiwi Tea was amazing!!! 🥝😍The pork curry wasn't too bad, though the pork was a bit tough to chew on hehe. Not included but their salmon rice bowl was good too!!!
Walked in to the restaurant without any expectations. Wasn’t really a fan from my experience in Hong Kong. (Are they the same?) But the Staff were so accommodating and friendly -gave us the coloring materials for the kids.
We ordered Cali maki, spicy salmon maki, salmon sushi and chicken teriyaki. My fave - spicy salmon! The rest were just fine. I can come back here for the service and hospitality and the other dishes too.
Had the Chasu Pork Rice in Stone Pot and Spicy Salmon Maki.
The maki was good. We were pleasantly surprised when it arrived because there were 8 pieces. We expected only 6 based on the menu's photo.
Chasu Pork Rice reminded me of Chowking's chao fan 😆 though of course this one's much better. The pork tasted good, but overall the dish was just ok. Not something I'd crave.
Might come back to try more of their sushi.
A Japanese meal that STARTS at P275?
Worth a try if you ask me specially when you dine at any one of The Bistro Group's restaurants known for their great food and top notch service.

As always I ordered my favorite dish which is the Watami Salad. Same yummy salad but it is sad it doesn’t have thr cold broccoli in it. The California Maki we ordered is well plated and really good. We also ordered the salmon in the hit stone bowl just the same it did nit disappoint us. Loved it. I wasnt able to take a photo of it because we were too busy to finish everything. Also loved how we were served by Ellie and Pau. They were really accommodating.
The food is great. You can feel the variety of taste. Haven't tried it all but all looks yummy. The service is good. They know how to prioritized who is who. They are alert when it comes to customers. Fine ambience. Great for quiet date.
Since we crave for some japanese foods rnded up eating here. Came on a lunch time but to surprise there were few customers. We ordered their signature dishes like grilled squid, skewers and nigiri. Staffs were accomodating and approachable.

Came here late at night before election and its Mother's day. We had enough during dinner but felt a little bit hungry after drinking alcohol. It's our first time here I can say that the food was good and the staff were approachable.
Watami is part of the bistro group. This is not our first time here because i liked their tempura and pork cutlet before. Today we got the following:
1. Hotpot sukiyaki -too sweet for me
2. Beef pepper rice - good but i could taste a lot of seasoning
3. Tempura - very good
Food is ok but the venue itself (if you choose to sit inside the resto) has a smokey smell. They really need to add more exhaust.
I was delighted when I saw plum wine on their menu as not a lot Japanese restaurants here in Manila offer it. For the food we liked their pepper beef rice in stone pot and salmon aburi.
Servers were attentive and very polite. Great tasting food and is quite filling as the portions are quite generous. Ordered Chicken curry rice and Salmon taco maki and it was great. For drinks I had their bubble tea and it was served on a gigantic mug! 😂. Ambience is quite relaxed and chill. The manager was nice and asked about the food as well.
I have eaten here thrice and this is by far my favorite branch! Staff here are nice plus the food is delicious! My favorite would be their Spicy Tuna Roll and Mango shake (remember that they are strawless) ❤️

Ordered Sukiyaki which is supposed to be good for 2 people as the server mentioned but was disappointed on the serving size as it was just enough for me (female, mid-sized, trying not to gain more weight).
Taste is fine but the seafood was not exactly fresh so I mentioned this to the head server and she sincerely apologized on behalf of the kitchen and gave me a yummy green tea ice cream which I happily finished off.

Got a dinner with my friends yesterday night, i want to share how we had our night completed:
Were craving for Japanese food so we went to Makati to spend our dinner, we walk by Greenbelt 2 and notice a large crowd in this restaurant, we also notice a good ambiance at their outside seating plus a band playing, what a nice view. But since we have a lot of catch up to do with friends, we decided to go in to the restaurant instead outside since band is playing outside.
As we enter, we were greeted in Japanese greetings! How exciting!
The recep was really nice, servers are really helpful and very polite. They were all smiling despite of a heavy crowd. Let me mention, Pau, Yhen, and Karell. Such a great personality, and there goes our Ms. manager for the night, Mae.. i didnt doubt how great the personality of her staffs, because we are well assisted and check on by her, great leadership skill huh. She even checks on food time to time. And speaking of food? Ramen was a wow! Their salmon aburi is a blast. We ordered another one!
But service says it all.
We really had a fun night. Kudos to the management. They should be applauded.
Beef gyudon was really yummy. Price for less than 400php and for me it is worth it. They should just need to improve on service re attentiveness. My friend's coke zero and my water refill arrived after several follow ups. But I will still go back here to eat.
Super yummy sushi in the heart of Manila! We had a 24 hours layover and headed to Makati city. We stumbled upon Watami, and gave it a go. Fresh sushi, each plate is greatly crafted! Recommend!
They serve unique menu aside from common Japanese restaurant food. The place is good and the servers are attentive. We really had fun with our lunch out here.
I like their beef pepper rice, they served with the hot plate and they helped us to mix it.
The service is responsive, and friendly.
The price is a bit expensive, but worth it for pay the ambiance in the outdoor place, we can enjoy and relax while drinking beer, and heard free live music although from other restaurant.

My family just got back from Manila, we decided to go to Greenbelt and since we crave some Japanese food, we decided to eat here at Watami since we are caught up with the crowd. As expected on a Sunday night, crowd here was a ‘Wow!’
We expected a late seating because of the crowd but compared to the other restaurants, the staffs here are very nice. The one who handles the wait updates us of the status timely. As we got seated and ordered, again as expected because of the really great crowd they had, we had some delayed food. Surprisingly, our waitress approaches us and apologizes to us for the delayed food and updated us on the serving time and viola! Food was behind her already, and really.. food was worth the wait! Another surprising to observe is that a manager was checking on each table and asking their dining experience,as she approaches our table, she ask how was our dining and apologizes for the delay of food and as i said, the food was really worth the wait. Food was really great, but service is really unique and sincere. The manager mentions their names even the waitress but im not good in memorizing names all i remember is the manager wearing a pink coat and my waitress with bangs and the one with a bobcat hair were really nice, well everyone of them actually. Ill come back to see them and to have some more. Thumbs up!
It's been a while since the last time we dine here. I notice new menu and drinks. There's more choices than before. Looking forward to try everything. Miss the taste of your food. Friendly staff.
I love their Beef Pepper Rice! Much much better than Pepper Lunch. Served in a stone pot, it won't run out of sizzles! Flavorful to the last bite. Very filling!
Aaaand Salmon Aburi! Favorite!!! It's defintely not tinipid sushi. It's so big it won't fit in my mouth on one go! I need to eat the salmon first then the rice! Haha
Watami serves authentic and fresh Japanese food. I love their Ramen soup and Tuna roll. The ambience is good too. Giving it 4 stars for my overall experience.

Great food especially the Tuna Aburi (though a bit spicy), so tender wagyu beef, and fresh salmon sashimi. Miso ramen is also yummy. Got a free coffee after availing their discount card. Lots of perks! 😊
Im having a dinner with my family, we are on a long table and we ordered a lot, but there is this one item that is delayed and i was about to be pissed so a manager approached me to check how our dining is going, so i told her that a food is delayed. I actually dont want our evening to be ruined because it was my mother’s food and was very very hungry. So, i was about to be really pissed, when this manager ask me and apporach us very politely. She is very apologetic and make a way that she comes back with the order. This could probably a complaint but a commendation to the manager we encountered. She is such a very accomodating person and would really want to commend her. She even insisted to compliment a dessert which we declined at first.
This is just to enlightened the higher management to please commend and probably put a raise to Ms . Mae. She really turned it around.
Well, i think we will still be coming back. Food is great tho. But because of the manager, it was superb.
Ordered the Pork katsu and Ebi dynamite roll. Pork katsu was so good and the shredded cabbage was a lot, you get to put your own dressing it was also good. I also ordered this passion fruit drink, it was so fruity and taste so good. Too bad I didn't get to take a picture of what I ate cause I am so hungry.
I ordered tonkotsu ramen and spicy tuna sushi rolls.
The tonkotsu ramen could be better. But thinking about what this place really is catering, then I'll give it a 4.5! The sushi rolls I ordered are legit and soooo good!! An additional .5 because they played "Imagination" and "I'm a Believer" by SPYAIR then "Fly High" by BURNOUT SYNDROMES. My inner Haikyu fan is easily swayed!!!
But really, the sushi is good. Even Hinata and Kageyama will approve.

Ambience: casual dining, very straightforward set up. There’s a bar for those who want to see the chef in action. There’s al fresco seating too. The music when we first entered was left to be desired, heavy metal.
Flavors: the asparagus-bacon wrap is good but they seem to have forgotten to remove the hard fibrous part 😕. Beef wagyu was juicy. The Mio sparkling sake was refreshing (only 5% alcohol). If you want something stronger, try Ozeki Nama Chozo Shu. Salmon belly skewer is simply heavenly. Chicken wings (didn’t look like the image on the menu, a look far from appetizing I must add and didn’t try (and gave the crew some feedback). Pork roll with mushroom is good too.
Price: skewers are priced from Php60 (2 pcs) to Php195 (beef wagyu). Beer starts at Php80/bottle and Sake meant for sharing at Php300. Wine is available too.
Service: young crew who seem to understand their products. Food and beverage orders are brought to the table swiftly, and with a smile. Now this is what I find more amazing: we shared our feedback through the wait staff, who shared it with the supervisor/ manager. The manager came to our table - an immediate action that we appreciate. We also commend the lady wait staff who was so pleasant, one can not afford to get upset with her 🤣
Going back to the chicken wings and the fibrous asparagus bacon wrap - these dishes made us think that there is no Japanese chef. A Japanese chef would be so meticulous to make sure such sub standard dish never gets out of his kitchen.
Aside from the confusing music preference, all else did well. Yes, will return.
Came here for a change in what we usually eat. We did not get disappointed.
We ordered:
Caesar Salad with Spring Egg and Chicken Teriyaki - the salad was cold and refreshing. The chewy chicken teriyaki complemented the runny egg yolk and fresh greens.
Creative Skewers - it has bacon with chives (or spring onions, I think), chicken fillet, chicken wings, chicken liver and intestines (with chives). It was served piping hot. The meat was tender. Too bad, they don’t have Kamameshi rice which we craved while having a bite of these grilled goodies.
Spicy Salmon Maki - spicy and fresh salmon on top of crispy sushi rice roll
Shrimp Tempura Roll - hope they can serve this crispy also
Over-all: I would definitely come back to taste their other food items.
Food and ambiance is great. I order salmon aburi and spicy salmon tempura sushi. Both taste delicious. Though it takes a bit longer for the food to arrive, waited for almost 30mins. Anyway, will try again. :)
Watami truly has the taste of Japan. Their have captured the essence of Japanese cuisine and took it to a new level. Their Wagyu Beef was as good as the Wagyu we tasted in Japan. It left us missing the cool extraordinary food of Japan.

Last stop for my last Bistro Group crawl for 2017 was at Watami in Greenbelt 3.
It seemed like a busy day, which might explain the fact why our orders started arriving only after an hour after we were seated outside.
Salads
1) Watami Salad (₱255)
- Fresh, healthy and delicious, the nutty dressing complemented all the greens in this bowl well, plus the seaweed shavings add wholesome umami flavor to this salad bowl.
2) Assorted Sashimi Salad (₱425)
- I have already tried this salad at their Uptown Mall branch and I enjoyed how this was like two dishes in one. Same consistent goodness!
Watami Aburi
Their aburis are a hit! Each protein on top was seared to perfection, and their pretty platters are pleasing to the eye. My favorite among the 3 would be the spicy tang of the tunamaki.

They also have katsu in the house! A serving is big enough for two people or for just one hungry foodie like me. I do like the pork katsu better because of its tender and fatty morsels.

*I am scoring this branch a 3.5 mainly because of their service. As mentioned, the orders came far too spaced out. They could work on coordination between the wait staff and the kitchen.
We were invited by Zomato to try out the newest line of Aburi-style Maki of Watami. Watami belongs to Bistro Group, the same company who owns T.G.I.F, Italiannis, Krazy Garlik and ,many more. As to date, Watami has five branches already. We had our #PrigiEats at their Greenbelt 2 branch. This dining area has been here since February this year. Few more months and they will celebrate their first anniversary. hooray!
Been a part Watami's launching of their new items on the menu,the aburi maki.Which will be unveiled on November 30.
We were offered the following items for sampling:
*Assorted Sahimi Salad-fresh lettuce incorporated with tuna and salmon sashimi.Decent usual vinaigrette and nothing spectacular.
*Watami Salad-nice sesame dressing complemented the greens and chicken ,nice smoky taste.
*Aburi Salmon Maki- torched salmon ,nice crunch on the ebiko ,smoky flavor very evident .
*Aburi tuna maki-bonito flakes gave a different color to the dish ,that dried seafoody salty taste.
*Shrimp Aburi - milder flavored ,shrimp as the main ingredient .Creamy mayo and fresh veggies brought the calming effects to the dish.
*Chicken Katsu-deep fried breaded chicken ,served with shredded cabbage and katsudon sauce.Well seasoned meat.
*Pork Katsu -breaded pork was well seasoned tho a bit dry .
Prices are reasonable ,but the service was slow,preparing the 3 sets of sushi for an hour.Hope they can improve on this area.

Me and my friend ordered their Chicken Katsu served with unlimited rice and cabbage. The chicken was flavourful but it was too juicy and soft that it almost looked/tasted raw. (I don't know if its normal) The chicken was a so so, since the texture of the chicken felt different inside the mouth. I'll just try their pork katsu next time.
SERVICE:
Their service was great. The servers were very attentive and accomodating.
Giving them 4.5 since the overall dining experience was great!
We went here twice at lunch time today and last week. Service is great, sarah and their managers are all helpful.

Food was better and fresher than the Watami in Tokyo (vegetables and fish). Service was good as waiters were attentive. Would definitely go back.

I would recommend the volcano roll and pork and enoki skewer among all the other skewers. I loved every bit. I didn't enjoy the chicken skin though since it's too salty for me. Others are okay. Service is quite slow.
Here with wife and daughter today. One of the Bistro group, perfect if you're Bistro member. Menu is excellent, the food looks great and almost exact same thing shown in the menu. You won't get that elsewhere. Waiting time is reasonable, a bit longer on some of the dish we ordered (Not shown). Food quality is excellent, looks and test great . I strongly recommended for Japanese dining. My daughter just loved it.
