The food here is fresh, hearty and super value for money!! :) Definitely a must go for all Japanese foodies!!
Their lunch specials are loaded from appetizers to desert! Sashimi fresh! Very good service too! Keep it up!
Food and service are excellent. Its a foodie haven.
Its my cloud9 for my japanese food cravings
I really like their ebi tempura. It's not too big nor too small, and the batter is just right!
So oishi the food!!!!
We always keep coming back for more!!!!
Great service! Authentic Japanese! Great Value for your money! I'm coming back with my girlfriend to try everything on the menu! Good job guys and keep it up!
Nice place I was here b4.
Authentic Japanese food serve here.
Every year on my birthday, I celebrate by eating Japanese food with my family at Hatsu Hana Tei. I think this has been going on for 5yrs or more :) it's a restaurant in a hotel but isn't excruciatingly expensive (600 to 1000 per head). But more than that, the food is really good too! It's fresh and very well proportioned (get the chirashi sushi don at lunch!). Lastly, it's not super crowded with people like the restaurants outside. Don't get me wrong, a lot of Japanese people eat here but you still get a sense of personal space and privacy :D 10/10 in my books!
If you're looking for traditional Japanese food, I recommend that you try this hidden gem. Entering the place, my boyfriend and I were surprised to see the resto packed with Japanese. It seemed like we were the only Filipinos there besides the staff! This probably says a lot in terms of their quality. Their food did not disappoint - kind of pricey but worth it. Great ambiance for dates too!
#EatWithCamTips:
1. Better to visit during lunch time like we did since they have promos sets (Order the Chirashi).
My top 3 traditional Japanese restaurants:
#1 Hatsu Hana Tei
#2 Kikufuji
#3 Nihon :)
One of my favorite japanese restaurant in the area. They have very fresh and tasty products especially sashimi but not only. Their private room for groups is perfect. Polite service.
We went here as advised by a friend of mine. This place was a gem. Its location is a bit hidden so there are a few people here. Also there are rooms inside for added privacy and the rooms were great.
The staffs were very helpful. They assisted us in choosing what to eat and they are very attentive. We also haven't waited for too long for the food.
When the food came, the serving was generous even for their solo meals. We went there during lunch so they have set meals that include steamed egg (tastes like soft penoy and salty taho), soba which is enough for a meal in itself, some pickles, rice and dessert (ice cream, coffee jelly or fruits). We also ordered kanifornia maki, their own version of the cali maki. It was good but there is nothing so special about it. The karaage, yakiniku and katsudon also tasted great. You can compare the quality of the food with the best Japanese restaurants out there.
Overall, the place and the customer service was excellent. For the food, I've had better but in terms of the value for money, it was great.
Kinda funny because we ate here accidentally. The plan was we just meet up in Herald Suites and I just found out she was already having her orders inside. Well, for the price, expect a very good Japanese quality of food and service here (well, it's a resto inside a hotel). We had some grilled meat but what we really loved is their sushi set! You know it's of good quality just by looking at their presentation.
Hatsu Hana means first spring flower and embodies the freshness and vibrancy of a joyful renewal of the season. They stick to a very traditional cooking technique with an artful presentation, no aspect of Japanese cuisine gets overlooked and disrespected. Prepares Kasiseki-style meals and menu that is enhanced by several regional practices in Japan created by the head Japanese chef who exercises his skill with the local seafood produce.
As we enter this restaurant with bright interior and wooden walls, most people in the room looked at us quite oddly and surprised as if we were invading their private hidden place. There are three seating areas, one in the common area, in front of the bar, and tatami rooms for more private conversation.
After having around 4 mugs of their Nama(Draft) beer, and devouring the entire platters sashimi and maki. Hatsu Hana-tei brings you the Japanes experience, right here in the heart of Makati. Everything from the Kimonos, the small buzzer in each of the tatami rooms, and the high quality of the food is reminiscent of a traditional Japanese restaurant in Tokyo. Japanese like focusing on one dish and perfecting it.
I really enjoyed the lunch menu sets (Chirashi set) for its value for money and quality. It is quite impressive to have an appetizer, chawamushi, choice of hot or cold soba and dessert alongside a chirashi bowl with fresh fish (special mention to the salmon) all under 600. Their tempura here is also really good! the batter wasn't too thick or heavy on the stomach.
if you are looking for value for money, yet delicious Japanese food you should definitely go here. Hidden secret of the little Tokyo area. Will definitely go back!
place 2nd floor Herald Suites parking in front hotel maybe 5 cars & basement 5 cars share with hotel guest. basement parking very steep not advisable for old car getting out will be a problem. Hatsu Hana interiors brightly lighted and casually decorated with several private rooms for meetings & parties. place was not full on sunday dinner. pricing for dinner on high side, menu price excludes 12% vat & 10 % service charge. cost us 2600 pesos including 12% vat & 10% service charge for 3 persons . we ordered sashimi moriawase take ,combination of half order ebi hako, salmon hako, maguro hako & 1 order battera hako & wafu gyoza 6 pcs see pictures. taste & quality of sashimi & hako are superb & fresh. hako can be filling. gyoza must try very juicy & filling. servers are very attentive courteous & professional. house complimentary cold barley tea is refreshing & authentic. hot green tea reminds fond memories in japan seems they added rice puffs to balance sharp tangy green tea taste. excellent experience. lunch menu prices looks more resasonbale with set menu & teshieku sets.
Hatsu Hana Tei has the biggest servings in the Little Tokyo area. You also get the option to get a reservation, something that is sadly lacking in other Japanese restaurants in the area. Unfortunately, it's good ambiance and great accessibility comes at a higher than regular price. Definitely a keeper during special occassions though.
Food 9/10
Ambiance 9/10
Price 7/10
Service 9/10
Wait time to be seated: 0 (get a reservation!)
Wait time for food: less than 10 minutes
Parking: in front of hotel only
It was quite a surprise, I thought that we'll be dining somewhere in Little Tokyo, since we parked across the place. But nope, we headed towards Herald Suites instead.
Wow, something new!
At the 2nd Floor of Herald Suites, its where Hatsu Hana Tei is located. As we entered we are quickly assisted. They got two 2 dining areas: The open dining area, which includes the sushi bar and their private tatami rooms. Its my first time to dine at this Japanese room. It has its own air conditioning, tv and a dining table. And to signal for assistance, there's a bell at the end of the table and a buzzer (modern one) at another end.
The server is attentive. Tea is served whilw waiting for our orders. We had:
IChirashi Sushi Set (served with soba (hot or cold), custard egg/ chawan mushi, Oshinko / pickled radish, miso soup, flavored tofu, and Dessert). That's a lot, the main dish is even more enticing. The Chirashi has rice topped with different kinds of raw fish and other seafood. Shrimp amd Uni are familiar to me, the rest.... hmmmm its good though I don't know what it is😍 for dessert we chose Coffee Jelly, served with vanilla ice cream. Yum!
Maguro Uni Don, (served with custard efg, oshinko, miso soup, flavored tofu and dessert.. no soba for this one). Served with rice topped by Uni / sea Urchin(half of it) and Maguro/ Tuna.
Verdict:
Food- fresh! And you get the quality of food that you pay for. Pricing is reasonable. I love the custard egg.. its like taho with savory taste. The chirashi is superb!
Location- valuewise, its like Kikufuji.. but less hustle & bustle. More private and you'll enjoy dining.
Service- as I said, they got attentive servers. Just a buzz or bell, they'll be of service.
Hana Hatsu-Tei is right in front of Little Tokyo. It's diners consist of expat Japanese business men. It's quiet, perfect for a meeting or a date. They have a good sashimi selections try their rainbow maki, and spicy salmon salad. Also, their draft beer is excellent.
This is our "family" Japanese restaurant and we've been coming here regularly for over ten years now ever since we discovered it. Their staff has been consistently very friendly throughout all those years, the food is consistently authentic, the ambiance is relaxed, and the price is very affordable. Most noteworthy are their lunch specials (which are bigger than most on offer around the area), sashimi and sushi sets, as well as their kaiseki dishes (which are big enough for two).
When you want the best and freshest sashimi HATSU HANA TEI is the place to be!
The vibe, chef and even those who eat here are purely so Japanese! There are
Tatami rooms for small & big groups! Like my son who spent his 17th bday here!
Beware! Make reservations during Thursday! Yes Thursday! As this is the "gimik" day of Japanese people! Make sure to order your hot sake! :)
Great food at an affordable price. Very accomodating hosts. Appropriate for dinner meetings.
If your looking for an authentic Japanese cuisine but on a limited budget, i highly recommend this place. 😉 👍 😁
Authentic Japanese food at very affordable prices. I really can't believe how cheap this place is. Located at Herald Suites, this resto offers set meals with soup, appetizer, noodles, main dish and dessert at a very low price. This is Makati's best kept secret.
Authentic Japanese Food. I love this restaurant. It's one of the few that actually brings in the taste and vibe of Japan. I recommend the Ebi Gyoza, Sukiyaki, Maki and their Takoyaki like pie.
Took a client here once and he was from Japan. He was impressed with the place and said it feels like home. This is a gem hidden inside herald suites. Food is great, Sushi is fresh and they cook the yakitori well :)

This is THE place to go when you have a big appetite for japanese food during lunch time. The serving is big but priced just right. Must try are the bento boxes in whatever mix coz surely, it's completely, too scrumptious!
If youre looking for some authentic Japanese food with friendly Kimono-wearing waitresses and traditional Japanese sit down table set up, then this is the perfect place for you. Found in the busy road of Makati near Little Tokyo, this humble japanese resto is perfect for private meetings, dinner and even group parties. The menu offers a wide variety of Japanese goodness and man you must try their Tempura! You will not only have a taste of Japan here but you will also experience their warm hospitality with a Filipino touch.
Decent Japanese cuisine in the heart of the Little Tokyo area. Ambiance is super as it's a well-decorated joint inside a hotel. Their prices are below their neighbors' and this comes at a pleasant surprise. One can have a decent meal there for less than ₱500. Not the best in the area but great value for money.
