One of the best and closest authentic Japanese restaurant in the Metro!

We ordered the Spicy Toro Maki which is always so good! The Salmon Maki was okay, could’ve used larger salmon fillets. The gyoza was also a hit! And so is the Shoyu Ramen! My mom enjoyed her yakisoba too! Always a crowd pleaser.

The best Japanese resto for me.

Fresh sushi and sashimi, noodle dishes of ramen and soba are all good. Iced coffee is very yum!!!

I would recommend their spicy toro maki and sashimi, Ankake ramen (can feed up to 3 people), nigiri sushi mori and asari miso soup. Come here for lunch and you'd even get a free onigiri and iced coffee.

They also have a karaoke room upstairs where you can sing your lungs out.

One of the best Japaneses Restaurant that you'll find in the metro. Delicious Japanese dishes especially the sushi platter that was offered to us. Price is right for all dishes, not too expensive. Their soup is also awesome, served hot and fresh. Highly recommended for groups, like family or barkadas.

The price and photos on the menu are deceiving because they are gigantic when served. Everything was good for sharing for me, and I'm a hefty eater. Everything is flavorful. This is officially my favorite japanese resto!

Food was superb and servings were huge. Only down side was that some staff were good at ignoring customers. We had a somewhat difficult time calling out for anyone to take our orders. After that initial setback though, we were able to call their attention for additional orders.

Their sashimis, both tuna and salmon, were very good. Fresh and thickly sliced. Salmon costs P380 a serving while Tuna was P280.

We loved everything except the Yaki Udon, it was a bit too tangy for us, I’m guessing it must be the sauce they put in it. Otherwise, everything else was good.

We were quite surprised at how big the serving for Potato Salad was. It was a big bowl for only P150.

Would love to go back here. Another challenge was that parking’s always full. We were able to try this now because it’s a rare occasion when there was available parking.

If you’ve had enough of those Japanese fusion food (that’s sprouting everywhere) and looking for classic and authentic sushi rolls, then you’ve got yourselves the perfect place-Nihonbashi Tei!

The tuna & salmon nigiri was served fresh and simple yet so satisfyingly good. The quality of the ingredients can speak so much for the taste of the Nigiri Sushi set that we ordered. The bacon asparagus, bacon quails and butabara were so-so.

Service needs a bit of improvement. I’d def be back again and again for their sushi and sashimi. 👍

Very verry satisfied with the place. Imho one of the cheaper yet most high quality sushi places I’ve ever been to here in the metro. And look at all that very generous bowl of uni! Yummy fresh uni at just 300(?)!!! Everything we ordered was really good, I really was quite surprised at how I’ve never eaten here yet. Only negative is the parking... we were there quite early and it was such a hassle to get my car out, had 3 cars triple parking, all had to reverse out and block the main road. Its a really good thing they’ve got good “boys” to help you get out of that quagmire!!

Since this area is very close to my workplace, my default go to place for Japanese has always been the Little Tokyo complex.

Nihonbashi-tei is a more than worthy alternative to the often crowded Little Tokyo restaurants. Good food, more than generous servings (their lunch sets can easily feed 2-3 people) and very reasonable prices.

Giving this place 5 stars only because the price is reasonable for what you’re getting.

What’s great about this place is that not even the damp, mold scented air of the place could stop you from enjoying what Nihonbashi Tei has to offer. They serve fresh (Uni, Mackerel and Sashimi) and well prepared (grilled, Mackerel and the Yakitori) dishes. I love how fresh the salmon is which has that melt in your mouth consistency. The grilled Mackerel was grilled perfectly and was oozing with juices from its open sea travels, you can taste it as it fishes out of the meat with each bite. The best part about it is that it won’t cost you an arm and a limb to dine here so you’d be sure to come back for more to scratch your sashimi/yakitori itch.

Traditional and authentic Japanese cuisine.

Still looking for the perfect Chirashi Don, Nihon Bashitei did not disappoint in flavor and freshness. It was so yummy and perfect in rice-fish proportion.
The spicy tuna sashimi do not have the typical mayo-togarashi flavor but still delicious.
Anakake ramen was unique, thick and really filling. It retained its heat for some time due to the thickness of the broth.

The place is traditional Japanese and servers were busy but present. Loved that they have rooms for private dining.

I've been here several times already and I must say it's a great place for simple, traditional Japanese food. Their menu is relatively cheaper than other similar restaurants but the serving sizes are bigger and the quality of the food is still at par. My go-to orders - salmon and uni sashimi, and ebi tempura - were all good. I'd skip the iced coffee which comes with lunch set though; it was too sweet for my liking.

First time to visit this place. Place was not that spacious. A 1 column tables and some vip rooms on the other side. If you are a big group i suggest you use the vip room. The food is great. We ordered ankake ramen beef yakiniku and some veggies. The takoyaki is also a must try. Customer service is great. During that time it was not so crowded. Overall, this is a must try restaurant if you are searching for an authentic japanese dishes.

No frills japanese restaurant that serves inexpensive authentic dishes. The takoyaki was the best i’ve had here in the ph. Wish the gyoza wrapper was thinner. Tempura was okay, chahan and beef teppanyaki were good. the salmon sashimi was cheap and thick, but kind of bland. Service is good, though the place has a musty scent.

If one wants to have a more intimate and laidback experience in a Nihonbashi Tei restaurant then proceed to this branch (though there is a bigger parking space in the Arnaiz corner Amorsolo branch).

Food is excellent as always! Sashimi is plump, a healthy pink in color, and clean in taste. Even after so many years, their Spicy Tuna Maki is still the best tasting in the market. We had Cold Soba, Salmon Sashimi, Spicy Tuna Maki, Ebi Tempura, ans mmd Japanese Rice and the bill was only around Php 1, 250.

It's been a long time since my last visit. What I enjoy at their restaurant is the wide dine-in space, number of private rooms, removal of footwear for some of said rooms, and presence of no-smoking signs.

Salmon Sashimi was really fresh and tender plus they gave big slices.

Ebi Tempura, including the okra, packed a good crunch and the shrimp inside was very hot.

Gindara was the best part of our meal thanks to its sweet Teriyaki sauce and tenderness. I had softer ones elsewhere but theirs was fine already.

Rice serving was very generous! Every item we bought for lunch came with a small bowl full of good Japanese rice. Iced Coffee was insanely delicious and strong-tasting. Cold Tea was our "water" throughout the meal, no regrets!

Service was relatively quick and we ate a bit after the peak of lunchtime. A particular server of ours was friendly but there was a moment where she could've chosen better words to inform my tita about fruits not being available. I think she didn't need to iterate in front of us all that my tita was already informed, because it can embarrass her and make her feel bad.

Everytime my boyfriend and I come here, we always order their Toro Spicy Maki! I don't know what it is but we keep on coming back for it. 😂 Since we always share food, we ordered Beef Curry, too! The serving was already good for 2 and their curry was delicious! Still got a lot of other food to try so I'm pretty sure we'll come back. 😂😋

After partying somewhere nearby I and my friends went here slightly tipsy. We had a spicy sushi which took away our drunkenness for some reason, and I applaud this restaurant for that. I just wish they would fix their parking area. Thankfully the staff had placed us in one of the rooms because we are a noisy group.

For the longest time, I prefer dining in the original branch of Nihonbashitei because I think the second one is little small. But this place is actually okay. It has fewer people and the servers aren’t excited to clean up your plates right after eating because there are no people waiting in line.

We got our usual orders…
Ebi Tempura - Their tempura looks more pale now and tastes a little oilier than what I remembered.
Beef Teppanyaki - I think the beef portion of the dish is smaller now and it has more veggies. The beef portion is also 80% fat. In terms of taste, I think it’s still the same - tender beef sitting in sweet salty sauce.
Salmon Sashimi - As always, their sashimi slices are really thick and fresh.

Our go to Japanese place! Have been dining here for quite some time but I realized I never gave it a review. Here in this review are lunch specials that we've ordered in some of our visits.

Service - straightforward yet accommodating.
Taste - as for the dishes I've tasted in Japan and at this resto, they're close. Of course nothing beats the local but this though saves me tickets and accommodations.
Price - nothing beats their lunch specials which are available from 11am-5pm, daily.

This is just located along Arnaiz Avenue and near Don Bosco church.

Always the most dependable (and affordable) Japanese resto in town! We love the fact that they close late and that their prices are very reasonable.

Faves are as follows: clams in butter, spicy toro maki, always tender unajyu, my friends simply love the grilled quail eggs wrapped in bacon and we unanimously love their iced coffee.

Love this place— should open a branch in the alabang area so we don’t have to drive too far :-)

Toro spicy maki and salmon spicy maki are the bomb!! My classic favorites here in Nihon. Aside from the fact that they are priced fairly, the portion is huge and the quantity and quality of the meat was never compromised. Value for money indeed! I only discovered this place through various recommendations and word of mouths from friends and decided to give it a try. Ever since I frequent this place even if I am alone whenever I need that sushi fix. That's how good these were. I was also able to try their other food like tonkatsu curry and they are affordable and delish as well.

If you're looking for authentic yet affordable Japanese food, this place is perfect for you! ♥

Please note:
♥ Reservation is not require but highly recommended
♥ Parking space is limited.
♥ Patience is a virtue

We dine here so many times but my partner didn't allow me to take pictures. So I only have few 😂

I really love their Salmon Sashimi ~ Fresh, thickly cut and served in generous portion. Other sashimis were just OK.

Spicy Toro Maki, one of their best sellers, is a must try! Though I'm not really fan of Maki, this one is an exception.

GRILL - My favorite ❤️ (Everything was delicious!😋)

Katsu Curry - DELICIOUS!!!

Soba - Simple yet delicious!

Udon - Nothing Special 😆

Service needs improvement 👌🏻😃

Authentic Japanese Food Finds

Product: I've been hearing lots of good things about Nihonbashi Tei and how the taste of their food stays true to the country it originated from. The price of their food is also very affordable and each serving size is good enough for sharing.

Syouyu Ramen (Php 200.00): if you're gonna order this alone, you will be full but if you're gonna order a lot of dishes, this is probably good enough for 3-4 people for sharing because the bowl really is huge. I love the warmness of the broth. The egg was overcooked but it was still fine. The meat was thin but very flavorful. This indeed is already a meal by itself.

Ebi Tempura (Php 380.00): four pieces of prawn tempura. I love how they didn't shy away from the size of those prawns. I would say it needs a bit more saltiness into it but I don't think Japanese food is as flavorful as I expect it to be. That's probably what makes the taste of their food so authentic.

Age Takoyaki (Php 180.00): 6 pieces of octopus takoyaki. I looooovvve takoyaki. I'm finding myself addicted to them these days so I just needed to order these. They definitely didn't disappoint. They're as flavorful and as crunchy as I expect them to be.

Chicken Teriyaki (Php 200.00): this was the last main dish to arrive at our table. It's basically what you expect it to be. It's sweet, juicy, and delicious. You can order this for your kids in case they're looking for something familiar.

Beef Tepanyaki (Php 320.00): served on a sizzling plate with lots of veggies under it. There are pieces of beef that are a little tough but the overall taste makes up for it. It was sweet and savory and it will make you want to order an extra cup of rice.

And the best dish we had that day... their Tonkatsu (Php 280.00): it wasn't the first to arrive but it was definitely the first plate to be emptied. It was so crunchy on the outside but so soft on the inside. There is no struggle slicing, biting, or chewing it. It truly is a must order in this restaurant.

Venue: On the outside, Nihonbashi Tei looks like one of those restaurants you stumble upon while taking a walk but when you enter, it's like a real restaurant from Japan. It's like an old-fashioned restaurant and it smells like one too. There are private rooms available that will be given to you if you book a table. The servers are pretty easy to call even from inside the private room. We only had to wait a little while for some of our food but there are some that arrived when we were about to be finished eating. I guess it all depends on the cooking time of each dish.

This is the Nihonbashitei branch along Arnaiz St that's just a stone's throw across from the Park Square parking lot, Dusit, the southeastern side of Glorietta Mall. It's part of that generation of Japanese restaurants with kilometric menus; thankfully, the wait staff here can help you parse through it, and there are pictures.

It's one of the mega all-arounders, with kushiyaki/yakitori, curry, ramen and udon, sushi and sashimi, lunch sets, bento sets, sukiyaki bowls, with beer and soju to wash it all down. Like others, I usually pick out a good bowl of ramen, or go for a tray of uni sashimi and a tray of mixed sushi or sashimi. Uni - Nihonbashitei's supply is fresh and reliable - plus a mixed sushi/sashimi tray are already a good meal for two.

It's a little-old fashioned looking, with banquette seats and private rooms where you have to take your shoes off, and a couple of TVs playing, one near the entrance. I rarely see it crowded, but it's old guard, even though they have the trendy stuff.

Service is not the fastest, but tray presentation and ingredient freshness make up for it, in my opinion.

Sadly, it closes earlier than it used to, but it's still good for an evening noodle run.

The staff are really courteous. They even greet you in Japanese. They’re respectful and attend to their clients as fast as they could.
The ambiance is nice, they have this separate rooms on which you can sit on a Japanese manner, or you could stay on the booths.

Food is great. Quite authentic. I ordered a Chirashi bowl and the serving of Uni (sea urchin) is very generous considering that it is quite hard to find. The Bento is big! If you have a huge appetite, the bento is for you. 😉
The food is not that pricey, you’ll have a full tummy at the price of 400+ pesos.

Overall:
✔️ Food is delicious.
✔️ Ambiance is nice.
✔️ Value for money.

Nihon serves authentic Japanese food. Their sashimi is really fresh, and their sushi is big and extremely fulfilling. I've tried numerous things on their menu -- Chirashi bowl, Una Jyu, Asari buttered clams, Toro spicy maki, Ebi tempura, Cold soba, Katsu curry. I don't think I've ordered anything that I didn't like. The only issue with Nihon is parking. During peak meal hours (especially on weekends), it's really hard to find parking.

3 words is all you need to recite and remember when eating here: Toro Spicy Maki. Depending on the weather (not literally), size and taste may vary, but really good when its good. I also crave Hiyashi every time i eat here, so i end up ordering it regardless if its dinner or lunch time, as it appears only on their lunch menu. Many other good dishes but i find their quality of ingredients and preparation to be not the best, but generally good only.

(Disclaimer: first-timer review)

Ate out here with family and some longtime friends. I've never actually been to Nihonbashi Tei before, but now I wonder why. The restaurant itself had the old Japanese feel to it which I loved, with a rack of sake on the side and sliding doors for private reservations.

Ordered takoyaki and I absolutely loved it. Might be my favorite in Makati. Spicy Toru Maki was surprisingly good. Big proportion and not overly spicy. Then ebi tendon for the main. I'm gonna be real here, it was not the best ebi tendon compared to other Japanese restaurants I've been. It was kind of bland, the rice did not have the sauce most love, and the batter ratio overpowered the shrimp - which is a big no-no. But I'm willing to put that aside since Nihonbashi Tei priced reasonably. The service was slow though. My dad's bento only came when 12 of us were nearly done with our food. So patience is needed, my friends.

I would recommend this place if you want to treat friends and family out to good food. The location is perfect as well since it's just a walking distance from the malls. Just make sure to make early reservations especially if you're planning to arrive after 6pm. All around it was a good experience.

Overall: Spicy Toro is the bomb! Katsudon is the same as the ones in other Japanese restos. And the gyoza as well.

Food: 4/5

Service: 3/5

Food is good and worth the price. I don't understand why my girlfriend doesn't like the spicy salmon roll, cos I love it lol. It's spicy and salty and the crunchy parts make it even better. Despite that, she still lets us go here when she's in the mood for gyoza, cos this place makes them really well. The dumpling dough is thin and crispy and the insides are soft and have a lot of ginger (If you're into that.) The curry is nothing special. You can get curry that tastes the same at other places or even fast food chains. The tempura is good but not the best. This is a good place for a snack rather than dinner when you're super hungry, cos either would make you full.

I REALLY think they should improve on their service. It's not prompt at all and the servers often shout at each other. They don't even check the tables when they pass by to see if anyone might be calling their attention. I ask for water and it takes ten minutes - do I look like Mel Gibson with a mullet to you? I gave them 3 points cos although they have bad service, it's not the worst and they're not outright rude.

Snack order: Spicy salmon roll, gyoza, edamame (620 + optional tip)
Lunch/dinner order: Tempura, katsu curry, gyoza, yasai salad (1,090 + optional tip)

Last Monday was a holiday (Thanks to our Muslim brothers and sisters!), so we went out to: 1. Eat out (as a pre-birthday lunch celebration), and 2. Search for my sister's engagement party gown. Since my mom was craving for Japanese food, we decided to eat at Izakaya Nihonbashitei.

We arrived at around 12NN, and surprisingly, the restaurant was not packed at all! We proceeded to order from their lunch sets (which consists of the main dish, with their side dishes of the day and a choice of nata de coco or iced coffee for dessert):

✔ For Me: Chirashi Sushi (Php 380) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Various types of sashimi on a bed of Japanese rice. Miso soup. Nata de coco for dessert. What more could you ask for? 🙊 The sashimi were all fresh, but I hoped each slice was thicker than what was served to me. 😭 I especially loved the uni (sea urchin) sashimi! So sweet, and fresh, and oh so delightful! 💜💜💜 The rice was too much for me though, I was not able to finish all of it.

✔ For My Sister: Shoyu Ramen Set (Php 200) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sooo affordable! A bowl of shoyu ramen + onigiri + nata de coco -- my sister was so full afterwards! I was not able to taste it, but my sister said it was good -- not cloying, but filling. Toppings were of ample amount, enough to sustain you through each bite. Personally though, I didn't like the (look of the) noodles, because it looks like the noodles you can buy in packs. 😩

✔ For My Mom: Grilled Salmon Teriyaki Set (Php 380) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
My mom kept on complaining about the serving size of the nata. 😅 Nevertheless, she enjoyed her meal a lot! The salmon seemed juicy and fresh, and the serving size was huuuuge. 😍 I wished there was more sauce though (so the flavors can seep in better), but my mom does not care much for sauces, so I guess it was just right for her. She also said that the rice was too much. Hehe 😁

We also got Salmon Sashimi (our Japanese Restaurant staple) for sharing:

✔ Salmon Sashimi (Php 380) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
FRESHNESS! 😍 I loved each bite. Each slice was thick, sweet, and fresh! I loved how the sashimi was not frozen, but cold enough to ensure its freshness. 👌

Overall, the food came in huge servings and we were all super full after we finished everything! Service was okay. Servers seem very young, but most of them approach us professionally. What I disliked though, was the swarm of flies who kept on coming near our food! 😭 I don't want to share my food with them. 😩 -1⭐ for this, sorry, Nihonbashitei -- I love you, but I am a neat freak. 🙊

Tip: For many Japanese restaurants, they have a special menu during lunch time (bento sets), so make super to viait during this time for more savings. 😉 Super affordable and filling 👌

Super loved Japanese cusine! Had been hearing about Nihonbashitei for so long, since a friend of mine usually eats here and he is recommending the food here. We have finally tried eating here last January since it was a birthday of my sister.

Food was superb!! Serving size is big and we did not expect it since the prices were affordable!

Definitely worth going back to again and again.

What we have tried:
Spicy Salmon
California Maki
Ebi Tempura
Beef Teppanyaki
Asari Butter

In all fairness, their food and servings are consistent as we also ate at their Ermita branch.

Their food is definitely a must try! Now, I am craving for Japanese food. Lol! 😄

I ordered Miso Ramen and Negittori Sushi with Mango Shake. First of, I have observed many native japanese eating (I know because I can hear them speaking in Nihongo), also there's a separate area where people can dine and smoke (I find this part quite interesting because I'm a non-smoker but I didn't smell any smoke, they have an efficient ventilation), and that the prices are perfect for an average earner. Ramens, specially, are fairly priced bet 200 to 300 with really big servings (2-3 people for a bowl). The sushis however are regular-sized, sama as the size that you would see in Tokyo Tokyo and 711. I would definitely come back.

Ordered:

Unagi sushi - do not order this. It costs P150 and is tiny (see pic). Taste is okay, not exceptional.

Salmon teppan - very good value for your money. While not the best, is very much worth the price.

Beef sukiyaki don - fave dish out of all our orders. Finished to the last grain of rice.

Ika tempura - the squid kept falling out after biting into the breading.

Paid P1600 for party of 2.

Nihon will always be my go to place when I'm craving for Jap food! Not only is it affordable, the food is really good too! However for those of you who bring a car, parking there is such as hassle!

This branch looks a lot better after their renovation. It enhanced the ambiance further! Good job..
Loved their daily lunch specials especially their Saba Shioyaki, Cha Soba (if you like cold noodles) and Iced Coffee.
If you are looking for a good value for money japanese restaurant with excellent service, this is the place to go.

This is definitely our go to place when there are no restaurants available anymore! Authentic interiors and recently, ive noticed that their chairs have changed which is a good thing since the leather ones were tearing off.

Food: I always order their gyoza and it never disappoints. Their katsudon and miso soup were also consistent with flavor and quantity. Their california maki could do better but I commend the restaurant for giving big pieces.

Service: Their waiters are all around the place which should make them responsive enough but sometimes they are not alert with concerns.

AUTHENTIC. It is how Id like to describe Nihonbashitei. Been eating japanese food once a week, and nothing comes close to theirs. The spicy tuna salad won me over with the creamy spicy sauce, the generous servings and unabashedly clean flavor--very Japanese. Also had their plain pork ramen with slightly salted, freshly made, springy noodles. The chirashi was just so cheap and the they didn't skip on the toppings. Lastly, the spicy scallop maki was something you'd gift to someone with each of its eight huge rolls embracing one fresh scallop. All for php 1.2k!

Our go-to Japanese restaurant --- we usually go there around midnight after work when we just to get our tempura/salmon head fix. I love their tempura. Unfortunately, their tempura was not available last night so we opted for their Ankake Ramen. Serving is good for two people. We also love their Spicy Toro Maki which is definitely sulit.

I've been to Nihonbashi Tei many time already but I just discovered their Karaoke Rooms located on the second floor recently to spend a Christmas Party with friends. They charge at P70 per head no minimum order required which is super affordable and a good place to hang out to distress after office hours! ❤️ Their food is GOOD AS USUAL. If you want to do Karaoke Night with your friends here better reserve a week ahead to ensure a slot!

Tucked in one of the Japanese hotspots in the metro, Nihonbashi Tei offers authentic Japanese meals at pocket-friendly prices. One can say that it's a go-to place by Japanese since the place seems to be crowded by them. So, we are definitely assured that food would be great!

Unlike the commercialized curry dishes that are being sold in restaurants nowadays, their Beef Curry (Php290) tasted like the real deal. And unlike the commercialized ones, it comes at a much cheaper price but you get the same serving! It comes with gohan rice that you have to mix and blend well with all the curry. Each serving was bursting with flavor with a little kick of spice. Plus, it comes with a bowl of miso soup.

And since we were at a Japanese restaurant, of course we had to order a bowl of ramen. We ordered Ankake (Php280) which was basically seafood ramen. For half the price of the usual bowl of ramen, we got a medley of seafood and rich broth.

Yummy Nihonbashi Tei is my go-to place for great late night japanese food in a cozy smoking room. :)

One of the last remaining restaurants where you can smoke inside.

Got too commercialized though. Their sushi's arent that authentic. Local rice vs. Jap sushi rice.

Cool place with these isolated sitting rooms. Friend and I ordered beef curry rice, gyoza, and tuna roll. Servings were big that these three sufficed for the both of us. We went out with very full tummies. Food wise, curry tastes like authentic Japanese curry. A bit spicy with a mild sweetness to it. This place is currently our go-to for Japanese curry. Tuna roll was fresh, wasabi was also fresh (very important!!!), and the gyoza were so juicy and piping hot when served to us. Very generous serving too. We wanted to get the black, squid ink gyoza and salmon sashimi unfortunately, it was unavailable at the time we went in at around 10PM.

I've been to many Japanese restaurants here in the Philippines but this is the best I've to. No joke! Their Nigiri Sushi Mori and Spicy Tuna Maki is just heaven sent! Not to mention the hospitality of the crews who are ever attentive to your needs!

Omurice by Nihonbashi Tei: YEY.

To the uninitiated, ketchup-flavored rice could be the japanese version of someone dipping their fries in sundae, it's weird but strangely satisfying. Omurice consists of a fluffy omelette (omuretsu) and fried rice (raisu) which usually has chicken mixed in with it. As one would expect, omurice would characteristically be sweet and tangy, chiefly because of the ketchup, but it really works well with the buttery taste of the egg wrap. Some versions would have vegetables like green bell pepper or asparagus, and sometimes swapping the chicken with other kinds of meat. To put it in more familiar terms, it's like eating breakfast for dinner.

I've only had Omurice thrice. First at the DW Cafe in Eastwood, second in Japan as part of the Tokyu Hotel Kamata's breakfast offering, and third, here in Nihon Bashitei. Of the 3, I like Nihon's the best. The serving is hefty, but I wished there were more chicken. Each order is very filling. They give you a bowl of miso soup as part of the meal and there's complimentary cold tea, as any decent Japanese restaurant would.

Salmon Chazuke by Nihon Bashitei: YEY

The soup was delicate. Literally, chazuke means food submerged (tsuke/zuke) in green tea (ocha/cha). For Nihon, however, tea is combined with soup stock made from pork and other ingredients. This makes the broth richer and yet still keeping that clean leafy taste which is the signature of the dish. The warm rice is soft but not mushy, and the grilled salmon was lightly salted and flaky. There's also a garnish of nori and sesame seeds. Should you choose to put some, diners are also given wasabe for that familiar nasal spice. The different layers of flavors you get in each spoonful of this dish is just impressively understated.

Are you in a bad mood? Feeling a bit grumpy? Get this one. Let's see if this doesn't make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. I also recommend this on those rare occasions that you've had too much of the usual Japanese fare like ramen. No not ramen. Maybe too much katsu or sushi. But not ramen. You can never have enough of ramen.

One of the best authentic japanese restaurants in town. Salmon spicy maki and Toro spicy maki, simple yet delicious. I couldn't tell which one's which though. The special yaki gyoza, just like any other gyoza ive tried, taste wise. But they had bigger pieces which was a plus. The Una jyu. Good as always just like in any other japanese resto that serves it. My favorite among the orders was the Sukiyaki don. Talk about serving and flavor. Wow. Also loved their miso soup. This place is excellent.

Had dinner, drinks and videoke here with friends for a suprise despedida party (FYI--they have rooms for group videoke) 😊 Truly a great choice, as this restaurant offered one of the best and authentic Japanese food I've ever had!👍🏼

I ordered the Nigirisushi and the variants were amazingly fresh, and surprisingly cost efficient for PHP350, given the food quality and quantity. Also got to taste their Toro Spicy Sushi and fried rice which were equally delicious.

Customer service was also commendable. Staff members were always quick and willing to assist even though we had "customized" requests (ie., serve wine, balloons and room designs set-up, etc).

Will definitely be back to taste the other Jap food options they offer!😊

Ankake ramen or seafood and pork ramen was recommended to us by our server and it didnt fail our expectations. It was really yummy...you can taste the umami! The serving was huge and good for 2-3 persons. For P280.00, it was super worth it!

Age takoyaki was also good. There was a good portion of octopus in there. Careful though as it is piping hot...i burned my gums and tongue in the process.

We ordered different yakitoris - chicken wings, gizzard and chicken liver. Everything was good and cheap too! Unfortunately, their bacon is out of stock. Would have wanted to try their enoki bacon as well.

Overall, real value for money. Cheap and good food. Our bill was only less than P800.00!

Food: My family calls this resto "extension of our kitchen" as we normally eat here every now and then. Our staples include Ume Bento, Grilled Chicken and Mix Tempura. Mostly, people would come here for their Spicy Toro Maki, and yes I do agree it is yummy but I prefer the Salmon Sashimi more because I can't swallow the maki easily.

Mix tempura is a sure win here. I love how it is crunchy, not oily and yet tender inside. As for Ume Bento, my favorite is the thinly sliced pickled kyuri (Japanese cucumber) and its salmon. Don't forget to try their grilled chicken. Juicy, perfectly grilled, with umami sauce...you'll ask for more rice.

Now I'm a fan of their Salmon Sashimi (I am craving for this now huhu). Skip the shoyu ramen, too salty for my taste.

Ask for their complimentary mugicha (barley tea) served hot or cold to pair it with your meals. My brother and I also order their iced coffee (though it is just ordinary coffee, we enjoy its sweetness to pair the savory dishes).

Servings: This is a good for sharing restaurant so expect generous servings. However, if you are a big eater, this is a plus for you. I honestly cannot eat the ume bento by myself.

Price: Reasonable price for each single order. For Makati, this is considered one of the budget friendly legit Japanese restaurant.

Service: I will rate this 3 stars. Sometimes they're nice, sometimes deaf (you have to follow up orders especially at peak hours), sometimes they seem to just ignore you after nodding, sometimes very accommodating. A bit inconsistent. But expect high energy when their Japanese boss is around. Haha.

Location: It is easy to find because it is near Don Bosco Church, but parking is an issue here since a lot of people eat here. Good thing Nihonbashtei is a growing business. I've never tried the other branches yet. Hmm. I wonder if they have different menu (like more yakiniku choices?)

Will I come back again? Hihi of course.

How do you end a laborious day? A warm cup of Ankake Ramen with California Maki and Yaki Gyoza on the side. These are my usual go tos in the resto after my shift.

Nihonbashi Tei is just steps away from the business district so it's easy to find! Good food selections await those who want to recover from a gruesome work routine.

Food prices are a bit high, service is fair and ambiance is fine. They are open until 2AM and perfect for the workmates night out! Tip: order their iced coffee and recover easily!

OMG. Its probably my 8th time eating in Nihon but last night was by far the best experience.

I ordered the Spicy Toro Tuna Sashimi (far left dish) the lovely Salmon Sashimi, AND Bento, it was the first on the bento list. All in all, our bill totalled P1,100.

To be honest, we ordered for three people which would be 350 per head. Not bad right? For excellent quality like this, your money's worth is a guarantee.

I recommend this branch of Nihon, located in front of Dusit Thani and Park Square. It is an absolite must-try! ❤️

Applause for their food and the amount of serving they'll give you. We ordered a little bit of everything and was surprised that they gave us big chunks of food. So we ended up super full and satisfied. I think their price is just enough for the taste and quality of food they serve, plus their food is instagram worthy. Staff and crew is really nice and they have free valet parking services. Highly recommendable and we'll be back soon.

I've been eyeing on Nihonbashi Tei since the first time I noticed it. We've been meaning to dine here but it's either too early and they're still close or we've already had our fill when we passed by the place. Since it was just mommy and daddy night on a Sunday, I asked hubby if we can finally put my Chirashi craving to end and visit Nihonbashi Tei. Hubby obliged and off to makati we went. We got there around 8PM and the place was packed! We were number 4 on the wait list. Took about 20 minutes before we got our table.

It’s one of the go to places of my church friends for a reason. Authentic Japanese that thrives for being delicious and having superior value for money as evident in their serving size.

Despite a tacky ambiance with old flooring and some beaten structure, the pull of their food continues to brings lines of people waiting especially on weekends.

I highly recommend their Spicy Tuna and Salmon. This is available in almost all Japanese restaurants but they just do it so much better! Spiced and mayo just right with really fresh sashimi.

The Tempura has a nice light taste with a significant fill of prawn. The sauce is not a must with their version. Have Yasai Itame or Edemame as well for a healthier addition to your meal.

Japanese food. Affordable. Delicious.
Who can resist that?

Nihonbashi Tei is our go-to japanese place not only it is accessible but also because it always satisfies us with our japanese food cravings.

Our usual orders consist of salmon sashimi, toro spicy maki, miso soup, takoyaki and some of their yakitori. Nothing special with the miso soup. The sashimi and the maki are all fresh and authentic. They don't leave a fishy aftertaste. Their wasabi also gives a kick-a point for every Japanese restaurant for me.
For their yakitori, they do not disappoint whenever we order the tori liver and the chicken skin. We have also tried their quail eggs wrapped in bacon(double whammy for cholesterol) and boy, I could finish 5 sticks of those.

We've also tried their ebi tempura, ebi chili and ankake ramen. Nothing special with the tempura but really satisfies any hunger. Two thumbs up for the ebi chili and ankake ramen.

Overall, I'm giving them 4.0 for the food.
The place and ambience is just fine thinking that it's an old restaurant, a decade I assume.
The service is so-so specially if the place gets crowded, you'll just have to be patient with them(seems like they're overworked). So if you're looking for authentic japanese food that's budget friendly? Go for this one, it won't disappoint. 😉

Not a fan of japanese food since I had a bad experience with it during my first time. But since it was my bf's birthday and japanese food is his fave so why not give it another try. And thank God it didn't disappoint! I loved every food we ate. I so love it that I wasn't able to take pictures of it 😜 We ordered Spicy Toro Maki, Salmon Maki, Ebi Tempura, Gyoza, Sukiyaki. Gyoza and Sukiyaki were my fave 💖 Must eat the sukiyaki when it's hot. I was also able to enjoy it with its yummy sauces. The interiors were good too! It mimics japanese restaurants. My experience is worth-sharing to my japanese students 😊
