my girl recommended this resto. did not regret following her resto picking skills. food was consistent and service was great. the atmosphere is very peaceful and a great place to have a date. Quennie Magat
Great service. Efficient staff. Authentic food. Long queue.
Delicious and worth my every peso!!! One has to appreciate the goodness of their dimsum and the consistency it presents from their other branches abroad.

Worth the try and money...not expensive and the food is okay. Typical hong kong street food experience inside a restaurant. Service is fast. Will come again for sure.
I'm not really fond of oily food, but this Chinese Restaurant is worth to try! The Baked Pork Bun is sooo soft and really good! The waitress told us that it's one of their "Bestseller" and no doubt about it. Prawn Dumpling is one of my favorite. The food here are very flavorful. I gotta say this place serves good Chinese Dim Sum. The service is fast and the place is clean. It gets crowded, so come early.
The place is great and the food is delicious but I think the winner is definitely their pork buns! I also know people who only goes here to buy their pork buns! Every time we eat here I really make sure to order those! The price maybe a little bit higher than our usual restaurants but their food is really good. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. :)
They say it is the "World's Cheapest Michelin Star restaurant". I always have their baked pork buns for to-go. I think it's everybody's favorite, right?
Not really a Tim Ho Wan fan but I think they nailed it with their limited edition Laksa. It tasted like I was eating at some hawker place in SG or KL.
The waiting time for my food is 5 minutes. I was really amazed how fast and good the service in this branch is.
Go for the buns! That’s the safest choice.
When I heard the news that a new and a Michellin starred Dimsum House was to open in Cebu, the big dimsum fan in me said that he really has to go. However, I have been to Hong Kong and back but still haven't visited the place. And after more than a year, got the chance to finally try this hyped Dimsum House.
If you ask me if this place is the best dimsum place that I have been to? It would be no.
The food here is not really mind blowing. I am not saying that the food is not tasty. It is good, but it is just the same with the other dimsum places I have been. One thing that disappointed me though is the absence of XIAO LONG BAO. Why can't they bring this on their menu? IDK.
Still, the best dimsum place for me is Dim Dim Sum in Hong Kong. In Cebu City, it would be Fung's Noodle House.
I just have to say it's the best Chinese food restaurant I've ever been to. Delicious would be an understatement to their dishes; it's just that good. Makes me think these are the guys who make anime food into real life.
There is a Taoist saying which states that " Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world." I have always admired chinese food and most of all dimsum and over the past years of my dwelling my taste has always been accustomed to the filipino standards of palate and Chinese food in the Philippines have echoed over the years and had transformed as a hybrid of both worlds. "Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world" which to my innate perception can be translated as forget what you know, open your mind widely and dive deep into the understanding of the world. The taste of Tim Ho Wan's cuisine can only be understood by taking a sip of jasmine tea, it is somewhat bland which is what hongkong cuisine is known for but you do not only taste with your tongue but with your nose and just like a drink of tea you inhale deeply and then you will be able to find the understanding which lies within. The restaurant didn't get a Michelin star because the food tastes sweet, salty or even umami. No, the star came from riddles and what I mean by that is riddles of the tongue and senses and just like old chinese paintings of the past where you only notice mountains or temples but when you look deeply you will see people embedded in it and each one has a story. Tim Ho Wan has a story and when you taste their food you do not just taste their famous bun or dumplings, you taste the unnerving spirit of the chinese.
I’ve read about the hype on this restaurant when it first opened and when I finally had the chance to eat here, it definitely was worth it.
First off, I love how I can take my time deciding what to order, they give you a checklist of their menu and you just cross out anything you want. Very easy way to order.
Second, I love their iced tea! You should definitely order one when you come by. They have their own blend of iced tea and its so good!
Third, the Ambiance of their restaurant is nice, the interior all in all is a good insta-worthy date night kinda place
Finally, their dimsum is so mouth watering, it was so good. The price is okay, a bit pricey but you know its worth it. Definitely a good restaurant. Will definitely be coming back here.
Nothing beats their pork buns. I always order two sets of these and their vermacelli shrimp. Its heaven on the plate
The rest of the menu are basic but then you dont go here for dimsum.. you eat here for the buns! 😊
This 5 rating goes to their must-try and to-die-for buns. Like I can eat buns throughout my sad life and be always happy about it. Although I have tried their other food in the menu, tasty, but did not stand out unlike the buns.
Nothing changed. Still good and the quality of food is the same here in Manila. First time here at SM Seaside and we decided to eat here, luckily there not that much people. The service is fast maybe because there’s not that much customers. But still good.

You don’t have to go to Hong Kong to taste a real Dimsum, it’s right here! at Sm Seaside Cebu! Love the ambience, great staffs and most of all good food!
Pork baked bun is definitely a must try. We love all the food the we ordered. It did not disappoint us. Although a bit pricey compared to other dimsum houae (maybe because it earned a Michelin star) but its worth it. Yum!
This is our go-to restaurant whenever we visit SM seaside. I’m really digging their steamed bun & the spare ribs rice. Hope they’ll open another branch in SM CEBU though.
HongKong's finest Michellin star restaurant now in Cebu!😁 I was wondering how they get their star.. Probably its authentic homegworn taste that earned the respect from a prestigious international food body..🤔 Whenever I visit this place, it will always be pork buns & stir fried noodles drowned with a cold soda. Haha!😄 But if you are into rice, its also tasty to try their different rice toppings or their sticky rice on lotus leaf paired with dumplings & wonton soup.😁
The Baked Buns crust was a bit sweet for me, its still yummy. The spinach dumpling and wasabi salad prawn dumpling was amazing! Service is great.
As a lover of Chinese Cuisine, this comes highly recommended. The Michelin star is not there for no reason, you know. It offers great value for money, and their servings are pretty hefty.
Favorite dish I tried: the glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf. Really good, and I can't get enough of it. The wasabi prawn dumplings are also beautiful.
I can't judge the service too well because we were there for a late lunch, and with few people, so I'll try going back next time during an actual meal hour to judge that part. I will have to note though that they serve their food as they come: we got the glutinous rice first, but my brother's rice dish also came in last. But then again, it is Dimsum, they don't really have "courses," per se.
Food-wise, definitely not disappointed, though.

Delicious baked bun..very accommodating staff and speedy in taking and serving our foods. Great ambience for a resto. Also value for money..🤣
Feels like you're in Hong Kong! I love how their food does not have a strong sesame oil smell but still gives you all the dimsum feels. Pork buns are so yummy that only one set isn't enough for two. Lol
One may think Tim Ho Wan is just your typical dimsum but it's definitely not. Every dish has its distinct taste. The ambiance gave some 'Hong Kong feels', I must say. You won't be using the usual wooden chopsticks. Although there are a lot of customers, you won't feel that it's crowded. The place is definitely clean. They have accomodating and friendly staff. In general, a bit pricey considering that every dish is good for just one person. It lived up to it's title of being a Michelin-star restaurant because every time I pay SM Seaside a visit, I would come home bringing a box or two of Tim Ho Wan's pork buns. What an affordable Michelin star restaurant. Well known for their pork buns. Also try their congee. It's not the best in Cebu but it's a great place to go to when you're craving for dim sum.
I ate here to see what the hype was about. Food was okay. I havent tried their buns yet but for me Tim Ho Wan is a little bit overrated in my opinion.
I was apprehensive at first to try because of the reviews I've read but fortunately we, my sisters and my sister's daughters had a good experience. As soon as we enter, someone welcome and met us and lead us to our table. A server was immediately assigned to get our orders and was very attentive to our needs. Lloyd was his name. We got the famous bun and it wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be. Most of what we got was good and didn't taste bland. Yeah, there was no chili sauce and ginger sauce like what we Cebuanos are familiar with the other popular Dimsum place but it was a different Dimsum experience. And yes, it is expensive but what I notice was the servings were a bit more and they weren't stingy and cheap on the ingredients used. I would definitely come back.

This is the first branch of Tim Ho Wan restaurant a Michelin Star- Dim sum restaurant originated in Hong kong at SM Seaside Cebu Mall in The Queen City of the South "Cebu". The restaurant is open Daily from 10am-9pm.
I've tried almost everything in there menu from their Famous PORK BUNS to their dim sum variety dishes it was truly Michelin star worth! A rating of 5 out of 5 for the food Production. As per their service we went there on a busy hour of the restaurant, people lined up outside had their names listed-waiting to be seated. There was this Dad who had listed his name and get a slot for his family members for the next one to be seated . We are the one's next to him in line. As he's name was called for them to get seated unfortunately some of his family members weren't there yet but yet to come. They should be completed before they could get in .The server won't allow the dad to be seated inside so that they could attend to his orders instead they let others in line be seated first. There was quite a commotion going on when the Dad started to react and others in line backing up the dads disappointment but non the less they had been catered as soon as they were completed. In the other hand as I was already seated I was "AWED" by the ambiance of the restaurant seeing the work flow of kitchen staffs through the food delivery counters/assembly area by the cooks and also seeing a glimpse from inside the kitchen and how they're strict implementing their HACCP. You could also see scenic view from the outside 5 out of 5 for ambiance. The serving time of orders is around 15-30 min. But my orders came one at a time for about 35 min. Maximum. As my orders came a taste of wonderful asian food experience was brought to me. I could taste intensity of flavors, the extra tongue teasers of the umami and the food comfort that made me Satisfied!
For the service 4 out of 5 for my experience.
Over all restaurant experience 4.8 out of 5. You will surely miss half of your lifetime if you haven't eaten on this restaurant. MUST TRY! This is one of my #bestfoodexperience.

I'm giving it 3 because I've been to timhowan hk and Singapore and the setting is just different. Firstly I hate how the waiting time is longer than your life!!! (Exaggerated) during peak hours and found it unnecessary. The reason why it's long it's because they don't handle it the same as hk and sg. They let the people stay there and chitchat. The setting in other branches are more you eat, you stay for 5 mins more then you go. It's swift and fast. My waiting time there never took that long. Timhowan is a great resto, the bun is to die for so waiting time is expected but cebu branch it's just too unrealistically long.
I am addicted to their Prawn Dumplings. So gooood.
The rest of the dishes taste great too. Not too salty, not too sweet, just right.
Service is flaky, some servers are nice, some are grumpy.
Ambience is okay, it's a new place so everything is still bright and shiny.
Since this is technically a dim sum place, it is more expensive compared to Dim Sum Break and Harbor City; but I think it is worth it since the taste of the food is very different.
The michellin-star rated baked bun with bbq pork don't fail expectations! I usually order their prawn dumplings and chow mien stir fried noodles, and they are more than enough to fill the belly. The restaurant has breathable, comfortable seating and moving spaces, and the warm ambience of the place gives it life both day and night. I always appreciate neat and well-maintained restaurant bathrooms and Tim Ho Wan delivered well. The waiters are also amicable enough to respond to your concerns on the food (i.e. recommendations, general/highlight ingredients used). Must try until you have a taste of all their dishes! Worth it.
I ordered the Chow Mien Stir Fried Noodles and 2 out of their 4 Heavenly Kings’ menu: The Steamed Egg Cake and the Baked Bun with BBQ pork. The noodles, topped with strips of egg, was full of flavor and Asian authenticity. Although, it does not stand out from the rest of the noodle dishes that I've tasted, it was delicious, nonetheless.
The pork buns were the ones that received the most hype and therefore the ones I expected the most to taste as the reputation suggested... and I was not disappointed. The buns themselves were fragile which already tastes sweet like a dairy candy and inside you'll find the pork covered in sweet savory sauce. A bite of the entire thing convinced me why it was called a Heavenly King. A new standard for a pork bun has been set in my palate.
To cap it all off, another Heavenly King, the steamed egg cake was the way to go. The flavor is there and the sweet, warm feeling in the mouth will complete the dining experience, along with a glass of cold barley tea.
Overall, the place has a very inviting ambience for a dim sum place which is quite meritorious. The service was satisfactory to me, but I've observed a bit of a chaotic and aimless staff towards the orders and prolonged waiting of what the diners' needed which is why the 10% service charge is kind of undeserving.
I would definitely return and order a different set of food from the menu to taste (except the pork buns which I definitely would order again) and hope that the overall service will have improved, worthy of that of a Michelin star.
Tim Ho Wan is real good Cantonese dimsum. Though it is pricy. Don't compare it to the other dimsum and Chinese places in Cebu as these have developed a Filipino flavor. The food is generally great with my reservation on the rice bowl choices( especially the ribs) which was full of bones.
Visited the Cebu chain of the renowned Michelin starred restaurant Tim Ho Wan. We ordered the famous baked bbq pork buns, spinach and shrimp dumplings, spicy dumplings, fried egg spring rolls and greens with oyster sauce. The baked buns were full of flavour and the bun pastry was a good mix of crispy and soft which added a good overall texture. The dumplings were light and well cooked. They were cooked excellently and were not sticky at all. The spring rolls were crispy and the egg filling wasn't too heavy. The only minor letdown was the greens, which was lacking a bit in flavour. Overall we were very happy with the food and service and would definitely visit again.
The best dimsum in Cebu! I have tried Tim ho wan in Manila and it tastes just as good. My favorite dish in this place is definitely the pork buns. It is over the top!
The first Tim Ho Wan restaurant that opened in Manila was located in SM Megamall. It was in 2014, that Filipinos were able to try the dishes of this popular Hong Kong restaurant. . I am hoping that Tim Ho Wan will finally open it's SM Seaside branch before the Sinulog Festival in January. Cebuanos are fans of good quality and affordable Chinese food.
Reviewdeck: Tim Ho Wan (Cebu)
Tim Ho Wan gained famed in 2010 when it garnered a coveted Michelin star. Since then, it is know as the " cheapest Michelin-starred
restaurant" and brought favorable attention to Chinese staple pork dumplings and steamed rice. Its infamous long queue of patrons in HongKong's Kowloon (spanning even to 5 hours?) and other worldwide franchises added to the curiousity of food fans to explore the affordable dimsum hideout.
Luck struck metro Cebu when a franchise of the restaurant opened in the mega structure SM Cebu Seaside mall on March 25. The brands 7th franchise store in the Philippines and the city's first Michelin-starred restaurant. Located at the 3rd floor of the ever-busy establishment, Tim Ho Wan is now ready to serve the ever discriminating Cebuano taste buds.
I went online to find reviews and blogs to guide me in maximizing this experience.I tagged along my chatty and fashionista friend @8isleahjheng and lined up an hour before the store's opening hour. Tim Ho Wan quickly became Team HoWat (Team Wait) Dedication?
So we grabbed the following- pork buns, spare ribs rice, shrimp dumpling, and Oolong tea.
The pork bun was awesome. We jokingly referred to it as a brilliant version of a local meat bread but that was just us fooling around. The saucy pork filling and sweet crusted bun is a must try. It must have been so delicious that the other table had 9 pork buns in their table. Mutogzzz mah?
The shrimp dumpling or Hakaw was a drab. The in-house soysauce couldn't remunerate its bland taste.
The spare rids came out a surprise favorite. The waiter poured a generous amount of its sauce to the rice and jumpstarted an endless chopstick battle. Its flavourful liquid magic added with a well-seasoned ribs was the best rice bowl I ever tasted. That Oolong tea punctuated a fantastic finish to a gastronomic experience.
Tim Ho Wan indeed rose to its reputation as a masterclass of its own. I am a dimsum bug and Tim Ho Wan is my type of place - clean, affordable, and delicious.

The steam bun is excellent!!!!! For the over all food is really worth the price. Although we have to wait for almost 2 hours to be eventually served...
I've been hearing lots of good reviews about Tim Ho Wan way back and when I heard the news that they will be opening a branch here in Cebu, I got excited. I wanted to try myself what the hype was all about. I got to try the FOUR HEAVENLY KINGS that Tim Ho Wan is famous for and earned them the most-coveted Michelin star but really, it was only the Baked BBQ Pork Buns that stood out among the four. Though the other three were good and they were uniquely tasty in their own way, but the Pork Buns captured my Cebuano palate that loves anything sweet.
Nevertheless, there are other food items in Tim Ho Wan that everyone should try too such as their Pork and Prawn Dumplings that are just so delicious you'll crave for more!
Its opening was so hyped that I myself want to try and experience why the hype was high. When you decide to eat here, be sure to come earlier than your meal time as queueing is usually long during the usual meal hours.
Food: 7/10
I had high expectations since its a Michelin starred restaurant. Though some food deserved the hype, there were others that were too bland or tasted weird. I wouldn't recommend you to try the one with the dried squid. Best: Pork buns and prawn dumplings
Ambiance: 8/10
The place was small but the space was well maximized. Mirrors and the high ceiling made it look bigger. If you're looking forward for an intimate meal, this place wouldn't be that appropriate though for the privacy you'd wish to have as tables are a bit close to each other.
Service: 7/10
Aside from the waiting time to get a table, food service took long. Even asking for a glass of water would require you to follow them up several times.
1. Atmosphere/ Ambiance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Better than the one in Glorrietta. The high ceilings made the place look big and spacious
2. Cleanliness:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Pretty okay. The maintenance staff when invisited was always roaming around and sweeps the floor after a customer leaves.
3. Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had the same experience in Glorietta. They have servants who are snob (Kim) i called her attention asked for straw right in her face but did not acknowledge nor came back with a straw. She just walked right in front of me. I like Joke, she was the one who took our order. She stood near our table so that she can attend to us immediately.
4. Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'm not a fan. I find the taste too bland sometimes.
I have to ask for more sauce for my rice coz there's no taste at all. Also, there are some food on the menu that are too expensive. Like the beancurd roll thingy and the spring roll with egg white. They cost too much. The pork buns are good but I can't have more than 1 serving all the time.
5. Accessibility of the resto: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tim Ho Wan the first Michelin Starred restaurant here in Cebu located at SM Seaside City.
As a foodie, I really wanted to try eating there as soon as possible and got the chance last April 9. We looked for it and was surprised by the number of people lining up and surrounding the place. I kinda was discouraged but we listed our names regardless. We waited for around 30 minutes which was okay considering the mumber of people waiting for their chance.
We sat down and I kinda liked the way the restaurant was decorated because it was so simple. And their menu was the table mat itself. However their choices of food was kinda limited, only a few. I think they should add more classic dimsum dishes.
We ordered a lot and made sure to order their renowned Baked Pork Bun (their specialty). The food wasn't that amazing actually. It was sort of okay??? Nothing super special about the dishes. Didnt give me that WANT for more.
HOWEVER, LET ME TELL YOU THAT THE PORK BUN WAS HEAVEN-SENT. It was seriously delicious! Baked to perfection and tasted soooooooo goood. I could eat it alll day. It crunched a bit when you bit into it and then the pork and the juices flow into your mouth and DAMN you wanted more. Right amount of sweetness too! I do suggest that you eat it fresh. Placing it in the fridge will soften it up and wouldn't have that texture you should look for.
Their iced tea was good too. 👍👍👍
Tim Ho Wan. A Michelin Star Dimsum Restaurant. Definitely lived up to its reputation.
The food had a great balance of taste and flavor. Unlike other dimsum restaurants that sometimes are too salty or too floury, Tim Ho Wan got the "perfect combination" so to speak. Furthermore, it seems that they don't use too much vetsin or MSG which very much appreciate (i hope!).
Their signature dishes are also delicious, especially the meat buns. However, the meat bun might be too sweet for some people. I guess it depends on personal taste if you will like it or not.
The rice meals are also really good, but is very mich dependent on the "special" sauce. It's just average without it.
This place is a real must try! It is quite expensive ( as expected from michelin star rated restaurants) but because it is dimsum you can taste some dishes for only around 150. But to really get a great dining experience, i suggest to prepare a budget of at least 300-500 per person. This way you can taste all the things you want, some dish you can just share.
Maybe the famed char siu pork buns just don't fall in my side of the court, since I found them underwhelming. Or maybe they're just overrated. Well, leave the decision up to you guys. Not something I'd come back for anytime soon. The dumplings were good enough though, if that's any comfort to the THW diehards. ✌️🏻
Tim Ho Wan known as the most affordable Michelin-starred dim sum restaurant offers precision and consistency in terms of taste, quality, and value. Their dim sum dishes are handmade-to-order, and not pre-steamed and reheated to retain its intended flavor and texture.
Was the one hour wait to be seated worth the wait? It may be yes for a first time experience with the place.
But to return here and subject myself to another hour of waiting? Nahhh 😉
