A place I'm always happy to come back to.
Cafe Egao has a cozy, cluttered-in-a-nice-way kind of ambiance. They serve a mix of Japanese and local food. I was craving for their cheese sticks, so I went back last night for the 3rd time this month with my son.
But last night's dining experience with them was amazing. I forgot to advise the staff that I don't eat pork, so they served the bihon I ordered with pork. When the owner heard that about it, he quickly instructed the staff to prepare another order of bihon. And they didn't charge me extra for it!
I didn't expect they'd do that, so I was surprised and really thankful.
I'll keep going back until I'm able to make up for that one act of kindness.
There is a Japanese owner"Mr. Zushi"here.
Since he sources seasonings and some food material from Japan, there is a menu where you can have a meal that resembles the true taste of Japan. If you want the sub shelf, you can get him advice and choose a menu.
Japanese owned cafe. Very cute and nice place to chill... there are books, too, like a mini library + cafe all in one. The food there is delicious and it's also affordable. I would love to go back there.
A twist of Japanese & Filipino! The place is cozy. Good food. Their staff were really nice, they explain the dishes in their menu to you if you're not sure what to order. Hehe. Love their coffee! Plus, they also serve alcoholic drinks if you wanna have a booze with your friends while listening to the live band. Great place to hang out.

This place has that home vibe, there's internet but it really encourages you to talk to whom you're with. The people there is really nice, humble, friendly and they greet you in japanese...
Their origibal shop was Small and quaint but with a homey feel. The food is still a two thumbs up gor me and the drinks is also very delish! They are actually expanding so yes it can accomodate more people.
Want to take some peaceful time off your daily routine? This cozy Japanese café is the perfect place to visit, seemingly much closer to nature but still in the heart of Cebu City (Talamban)!
The front of the cafe is covered in glass so it can get moody at night (and when it rains) which is something I love! The perimeter is carefully lined with potted and tall plants so you still definitely get the ~~Osaka feels~~. I like the fact that there are only a few tables available. It feels warm and closer to the heart, minimising the chances of getting noisy groups on the next table. :p
It makes it much more appealing and interactions feel more personal and sincere. I have only taken a few people at a time there and these are people I value.
FOOD
They have the best cold noodles, anywhere!
I am in love with their pastas too! Carefully made and well thought of! I have enjoyed their carbonara and penne pasta more than in authentic italian restaurants in Cebu!
If you’re used to the American way of food preparation (obesity promoting) sugary lifestyle and bombarded with sweeteners then you might not enjoy their Shaved Ice. But i do! The sweetness is just right and not overwhelming. The key there is balance and this is what this place offers.
The place is owned by a japanese man and his filipina wife. Lovely people. If you come too often you might get to see the Japanese man brew offee with a tiny gold kettle which is quite interesting to watch! You know they serve authentic too because this place is frequented by Japanese people old and young!
The best place to eat affordable authentic Japanese food. Excellent customer service and very friendly. The food is good especially their okonimiyaki and cold ramen. I hope they will add more on their menu.
For me this place is my personal favorite, it reminds of home. The food they served are well seasoned. My favorite part about this cafe is that they never used complex kitchen tools in preparing your food and beverages. Especially there coffee, you can observe how they are brewing it in an old fashion way. Over all, this is the most unique cafe you can visit.
I am almost in Japan😊
I really recommand big takoyaki! Its so cute ever! All foods are followed the japanese mood!
there has a lot of japanese dishes
This quaint little Japanese cafe has a homey feel and very friendly owner/staff. You'd feel right at home (especially if you sit in the couch like we did). Not for large groups 'cause there are just about 4-5 small tables inside. You can eat outside or at Julia's though (bar/resto beside it).
I loved the Okonomiyaki. It was big and fulfilling for P150. Carbonara for the same price was also creamy and tasty. I didn't like the shaved Melon ice though. It lacked flavor and sweetness despite having icecream inside. It also takes the staff some time to serve because they cook it (infront of you) after you order.
Overall, I like the place. It's very relaxing. I heard they have good coffee. I'm gonna try that next time.
Deductions:
1pt the shaved ice lacked flavor. Maybe some milk?
0.5pt for the serving time. After 10 mins of waiting, my friend was informed her order wasn't available. We thought they were already making it.
A mix of Japanese & Filipino cuisine where you can find it away from the busy city! Hehe!😊 They have a wide range of Jap & Fil foods to choose from but what I have tried are their sizzling pochero, sauteed shrimps & crispy pata which is tasty. What creates an edge in their vicinity is aside from good food, they provide entertainment every night & paired it with buckets of beer for an enjoyable nightout of food & drinks! Definitely will visit there again for Japanese goodies!😁
The place has a cozy ambiance and a homey feel. Food was great and service was good. A good place to relax and unwind. Their okonomiyaki is great.
The Place has a very homey fell. The staff are very friendly.
The Coffee is excellent.
With a big parking area and al fresco seats that can accommodate a 150 person.
It's a small, humble place but a great one to be at. Though food selection is small, they taste quite good. Ambiance, which is hinted with Japanese decors, is comfy and relaxed. Owners and staff are really friendly and accommodating.
If you happen to be in Talamban area, try visiting this Japanese themed cafe. Cafe Egao offers various dishes like ramen (picture below), pasta, donburi, etc. Their roasted coffee is also a must try. Staffs are so welcoming as well but service time is a bit slow. Ambiance wise, its a nice place to chit chat with friends.
I love the beautiful SMILES of the people in this homey cafe . Aside from the yummy and delicious food, this is the only cafe where it preserves and performs the traditional roasting of coffee! Great place and great people to making you come back for more!
I loooove this place. It's a quaint and adorable cafe with delicious and affordable food. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. There are a lot of interesting stuff in the shop like the art on the walls, and a bookshelf of manga in Japanese. I also like the old school music played in the background. It just fits the shop. It's the best place to unwind and relax with a couple of friends, to study, or to go on a date. I highly recommend this place.
I never thought there is a lovely and homie Japanese cafe in Talamban. I love every serving there. #Tempurasoba is delectably delicious. Unarguably, everything is so sinfully gastronomic.
" Ohayo gozaimasu! " is what you will get the moment you got inside Café Egao, a cute Japanese café run by a Japanese ( who's also the chef ).
PLACE: The place is quite small, not really good for celebrating with more than 10 person 😂 I think the place is just good for dating and small business talks with coffees. Me and my friends were here for lunch and we were around 8 pax. The Jap owner had a lot of books and comics where the customers are free to use ( not really read because its all in japanese ). The cashier and the cooking area is as one. You can see your order being cooked.
FOOD: Everything was delicious! Since it's a minimum of 1 order per person, we ordered 8 dishes! We tried their best-seller which was the Okonomi-yaki or their Japanese pancake made of cabbage and ham and some stuffs and it was really really good! 👍🏻 we also tried their egaoyaki or their takoballs, also good! For the pastas, we had the perfectly creamed carbonara and the gorgonzola- has the same look with the carbonara and I think the only difference was that it has Blue cheese- also a two thumbs up 😘 For the rice meals, we tried the Gratin, Beef Soporo and the famous Omurice. The three rice meals for me was so-so. What I really love was the Japanese style pancake! A must try 😉
SERVICE: The service was good. Orders usually takes time since they will cook it for you and what I like about it here is that the owner cooks your order for you. Since we had a lot of order, His wife also helps in the prep and cooking. After we ate, they offered us some cookies for free, I think its their way of saying thank you to us 😂 It's a 5.0 for me and I'd love to come back here again and try their coffees.
My favorite cafe. I love the relaxed and laid back atmosphere. Its random items and small tables make the place charming without being overly cute. Coffee is topnotch and it is fun to watch the staff roast, grind, and brew the beans. Food is great as well. Highly recommended for old souls like me who feel anxious inside those pretentious cafes littered with noisy customers.
